It's clear he's a figurehead GM and little more. His boss, with his own questionable judgment makes all the calls. And if he didn't, still, how impressive would that make Grier? TBum does most of the pressers and is essentially the face of the front office. You get the impression that Gaines is his puppet, sitting on his lap, with Tannenbum's hands up his butt controlling his "message," the infrequent times when he's allowed to speak.

So aside from being a convenient way to circumvent the Rooney Rule while Gaines fetches his coffee, and a figurehead who, because of his ethnicity would be so un-PC to fire without Ross also firing Tannenbum, who exactly is he and why does he qualify even for the title?

We know he was last Director of College Scouting after 16 slow-mobility largely undistingished years within the organization. Sure anyone has scouted their share of Vontae Davis's but considering he had at least input into drafting decisions prior to this charade of a "promotion," take a look at the big picture. For anyone who argues that he's been on interviews for other GM positions, my response is: "yeah, well how many has he been actually seriously considered for vs being a Rooney Rule compliance prop?"

Bottom Line: We have a de facto GM running this front office with whom Ross used ends-around to circumvent the Rooney Rule. This is someone who no one else in the league wanted as even a traditional GM; one who left his organization in such deep **** that it took 2 successors to dig out of the hole; one who would have consented to being a Jets capologist to stay with the organization cuz Woody Johnson liked him, if not for desirable candidates for his old job refusing to interview while he was still in the building. So essentially Ross dumpster dove for someone who'd be a capologist, and be happy to be so if it were up to him.

For those who want a new QB: Grier: unqualified to pick anything other than his nose. Tannenbum: actually traded up for Sanchez, soon to be back up to the backup once Romo comes back, Clemens, and of course traded a 4th and 6th rounder and paid a few mil in advance to and for Tim ****ing Tebow, who's now in the baseball instructional league. Most importantly, this Einstein ignored Bradway's plea to draft Russell Wilson in the 2nd or trade up in the 3rd, instead not only standing pat with Sanchez but actually giving him an extension that some say put the Jets in cap hell.

So essentially between Tannenbum who cleverly insulated himself by putting an unqualified minority candidate in a figurehead GM position, his puppet and the owner, this is a classic case of "3 Blind mice" - truly the blind leading the blind.

For anyone who sincerely thinks we're better off with Tannenbum and his lackey than we would have been with Hickey, I have a shiny bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you cheap!

Good ****ing luck to us all.

TannenBUM was a loser with the Jets and he is a loser with the Dolphins. Ross is a complete moron for bringing him on board.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase told his team loud and clear last week that he is a new coach so he’s not getting fired at year’s end.

He told them the general manager is in his first year so he’s not getting fired.

Gase told his players the people that run the organization are not going anywhere.

You guys, Gase told the entire roster of players, are the ones who will get blown out if things don’t work out.

Grier knows all the Starbucks ordering lingo by heart. So he is here to stay until Tannenbum is done with his part in the never ending distruction of the Dolphins. Also Grier is the perfect pawn to be one of Tannenbum's scapegoats.

I know nothing about the guy. I think they just brought him in to try to deflect criticism away from T-Bum. Thank God it is not working.

Culture and bad FA decisions are the reasons for a decade of ineptitude. There's not enough guys on the team that want to win at all costs.

We need to stay ahead of the FA market. Hopefully we fix that and sign R. Jones and Landry ASAP. Have to stop letting out guys go

Possibly harsh on idiots.

Now he is a pet. Previously? He contributed to 10 years of **** drafting in Miami.

Grier probably has a lot more to be blamed than just being a figurehead GM. As director of college scouting for the previous 9 years, he's the person that was responsible for providing the best and accurate reporting on draft prospects.

Since our drafting has been pretty **** that whole time, I'd say he should've been fired instead of "promoted"

I said over and over I wanted them to hire an experienced front office. We get another first time coach and and known guy for GM. Nothing like getting paid millions for OJT.

Yes, but what about the incompetent ****head that promoted him. Say's a lot more about that turd.

I really hope, if Tannebaum/Gase doesn't work out, Ross sells the team. If I were Ross, I would swallow my pride and move on, do the city of Miami a favor and put the team in different hands, it simply hasn't worked out under his watch.

 No, he's not. Pure figurehead. Can you imagine how irrelevant he has to be to avoid being purged from this organization through the worst time in it's history and through constant flux. Dude just kept his head down, relied on his daddy's pedigree and now he gets to be a "GM" in title at least.
