chris hogan the secret weapon?

Thanks, seems like that would be where he fits best ... I would rather him continue to do well there rather than struggle on the perimeter and have less experience take over the slot. I hope Hogan is the real deal and work himself into the lineup, this group is desperate for a big boost as well as a feel good story. If the WRs don't work well enough in the regular season then I hope we plan to split out Reggie bush, throw to Miller out of the backfield and have Clay and Fasano lined up together ... whatever it takes to get someone the dang ball. If Matt Moore starts, we could always ask Ryan to play wideout ... naw, j/k!

He's actually played the perimeter quite a bit.

This is the sort of thing that gives me real interest. I'd be happy to see him doing it against the first team defense consistentlHopefully there is something on which to build. Decent size, strength, quickness, and the ability to separate is a great package for a young WCO receiver. If the reports of his hands and separation are true, I'm certain he will make the team. I hope to see him given the chance and succeedin
 
if everything is true about hogan, i would like to unleash him against the jets in week 3

I'd caution the excitement. He's the 3rd best slot receiver at the moment. He's probably where Julius Pruitt was a year ago, although at that time Pruitt was the best gunner Darren Rizzi had ever seen on special teams, and I don't know if Hogan has been having an impact on special teams or not.

There's only one way to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. Get him some increased reps and put him with a better quarterback, see how it works out.
 
Only way he has a chance is if he can get on the field with when the first and second string offense and show the same ability to get open. Tannehil and Moore wont miss him wide open like Devlin did...
 
We Jersey folk have been really pumped about him. Hopefully he will be a steal for us... 7-11 open 24 hours, gotta love it.
 
Play Hogan with starters and sit Bess. If the kid is truly open all the time, he should get the ball. If he truly catches the ball and runs great routes and proves himself, then maybe, just maybe, its time to ask teams what would they give for Davone Bess. I think Jets and Bills come a callin.

Call me crazy, but Bess had an ACL last year no? At some point, you have to trust the young ones who have their lights on.....after all, thats who Bess was.

Agreed. But this is the time of year when I have a lot of hope. :)

As we know, depth charts this early in the preseason aren't nearly as meaningful as they are later. Also, at this level there are a lot of individuals with crazy athletic talent that just haven't had the light come on yet. I guess my hope is that maybe his lack of experience has prevented him from using his athletic talent in the past, and now possibly the light is starting to come on for him. We take flyers on players like this all the time, heck, I recall a TE from Monmoth named Nalbone who had the measuables but the light never came on for him despite him apparently working quite hard at it. IMHO, Wallace is in the same boat, but with even crazier athletic talent, and the staff is hoping the light finally comes on for him as well. I'd say Gates is another still seeking that light switch.

As a fan, I'm rooting for all of them to find that light switch, because Wallace has great athleticism for his large frame, Gates has that rare speed, and Hogan reminds me of the medium sized all-around receivers that have been so successful in Green Bay. Around the league I recall guys like Colston not being high draft picks but making it, and Pittsburgh seems to have found a seeing-eye dog to show all of their receivers where the light switch is. I'm hoping maybe this is our horrible luck starting to end. Maybe we caught this guy just as he finds the light switch. Then again ... you're probably right, and he'll be a footnote once the regular season begins. Regardless, I'm enjoying the "hope" phase of the season.
