Chris Johnson willing to take a pay cut for trade!

Incredible speed but has a really bad reputation for being very selfish. Hard to name a more selfish player in the NFL.
If Hickey shows any interest whatsoever, it means that when says he is looking for high character guys who are "team" players, this means absolutely zilch. Chris Johnson has a very bad reputation. There is a reason why Tennessee is looking to short sell.

I would like to have him for a late round pick BUT after the "pay cut" what would his salary be? I would consider a heavy incentive laden deal with a smaller base pay. Having him wouldn't mean I wouldn't draft a RB in the first three rounds though.

Dallas has no money and a good RB, don't see it happening.

Jerry has a way of getting what he wants.

Not at his price and I'm not sure he's what the coaching staff is looking for. They want a bruiser.

Ozzy rules!!

What hes got left in the tank? In terms of what as he is still one of thee fastest players in the league. I say absolutely sign him as long as its a significant paycut.. say around 3-5M/year
Yeah, but what's he got left in the tank?

They may want a bruiser, which Johnson isnt, however he can break tackles which is something none of our RBs can do

people do not understand we need a bruiser back, and hickey likes to get RBs in the draft. 0 percent chance he comes to south beach with miller still here

and he cant pass block on top of that. we need a pass blocking bruiser 3 down back, which is why we will draft one in the second

I never have liked this guy...he got a lot of media attention for his 2K season...then he went down the tubes.

No way, and here's why:

1) This is such a buyer's market for RBs it's insane. Absolutely nobody is shelling out big bucks for free agent backs. Ben Tate, Moreno, MJD, Starks, Blount and Andre Brown are all just sitting out there, and NOBODY'S BITING. There's just no point in giving up draft picks and spending a lot more money on CJ than it would take to sign one of those guys. As the days tick by, their agents are going to look at the pool of backs, along with the pool of interested teams, and say, "you'd better grab the first offer available."
2) You know who Chris Johnson would have looked like last year if he'd run behind Miami's OL? He would have looked maybe a little bit better than Lamar Miller did when he ran behind Miami's OL.
3) This draft class is pretty deep at RB. There aren't a lot of standouts, but if you're looking for a bruiser...they're out there. Terrance West and Lorenzo Taliaferro are two big, strong backs that should be there in the middle rounds (I LOVE Taliaferro anywhere from round 5 on, but would be happy with either.)

It doesn't seem advantageous to cut Miller OR Thomas (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think cutting either of them saves any money). If we do anything, I'd sign one of the FA backs on the cheap, pick up a big back in the draft, then see how that shakes out for the regular season.

Also, there will be a lot of serviceable backs available as the rosters are trimmed down. No need to overspend or trade picks unless they fall in love.

He's a perfect fit for the zone blocking scheme we run. Make Miller earn his playing time. I'd still prefer Andre Brown though. Guy is underrated.
