Popular belief is that if we stay at #1 we will select either Chris Long or Glenn Dorsey. I thought I'd make this thread a dedication to debating the 2 players.
If we cannot trade down, then I say we draft Chris Long.
Forget Dorsey, and forget Gholsten. Both guys play on BCS Championship defenses...that is enough reason to be skeptical. They are surrounded by the best defensive players in the nation...they are in great systems, they are pieces of a puzzle.
Chris Long was the heart and soul of his defense. He was THE play maker. He was like a 1-man defense. He single handedly won games for his team. When he was not sacking the QB, he was pressuring him every down and often batting the balls down. On running plays he closes running lanes, he has a motor that does not stop and has a relentless pursuit for perfection.
Imagine: Long on the left side of the D-Line and JT on the right - that would be a nightmare for O-Lines. Scouts think he could also be valuable as an OLB and compare him to Mike Vrabel.
Lil Howie would be my pick.
I don't see anyone filling in for JT's shoes in a couple years on our current roster...we best take DE over DT. I like our DT prospects we currently have...much more than our DE depth. Long can also switch sides and create havoc for coordinators...he will be worth the #1 selection guarenteed...in my opinion he and mcfadden are the only 2.
