Ravens | McAlister might not be with team for 2006 season
Sat, 21 Jan 2006 09:05:15 -0800
Mike Preston, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/169">Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick recently warned team officials that CB Chris McAlister might not be with the team for the 2006 season. McAlister has five years left on his contract worth $36 million. He received a $10 million signing bonus in October of 2004 and another $7.5 million during the spring of 2005.
He is younger than a lot of the options out there
He is a big DB, something Saban loves (he is 6'1)
He is speedy
He is consistently one of the best shutdown corners in the NFL
Law is too old, Clements is too inconsistent (had a rough year this year, and will likely get overpaid), this guy would be a great addition!
And I know some of us dont want to spend the big part of the cap room on a DB, but this would be a good fit and Im open to spending money on a CB if its someone who has shown consistent ability and who isnt entering his 12th year in the league. Add a premier CB to our team and we are instantly better.
Can you imagine drafting Michael Huff next? That would be improvement in the secondary, for sure!
Thoughts?
