Chris Mortensen talking up Tannehill on Colin Cowherd Show

As much as I think Tanny will grow into a great QB, I'm still a firm believer of letting him sit for as long as possible.

We've broken far too many QB's around here to throw him to the wolves. Sure, it may not mean anything, but there definitely isn't any harm either in patience.

b/t kolbs real close to zona eating his money and them walking away...and i bet someones head rolls over that contract...someones should

he's an injury red flag and that int where jenkins undercut the route from the inside that reads so damn basic its not funny...and he should be WELL past that at this point of his career...guys garbage

I think by week 1 he's the starter. He's is way more talented then Moore and Gerard once he gets in the preseason his talent will show, his biggest knock was experience not talent

The onlt worry I have about him starting the season is our WRs are very inadequate!!

There is a flaw with that approach though. If you start Garrard and he wins against Houston...you can't really bench him after that. So you have to wait until he struggles. If Tannehill is the best option...play him against Houston...if he's not then wait until he's the best option

Then I would continue to go with Garrard until he started to fail. Tannehill looks the part talent wise, looks the parts intelligence wise, but when it comes to experience, he is lacking a bit, and going against a very aggresive pass-rushing defense will put him on the ground more then you hope to see of your Rookie QB, or will force him to make split second mistakes.

If they do decide to start him against the Texans, then they should allow Tannehill to get as much work with the 1st team in preseason as possible to get his feet wet for the Texans game.

screw all that...every report is saying that tannehills showing marked improvement...even omar got on board with it that he looks like he belongs now yesterday...play the one with the most upside and talent if its becoming a close call...no brainer imo

if the kid looks good in the preseason games and shows the talent that frankly these other guys don't have no need in waiting...roll with it

load your gameplan with plays that play to his strengths...ie rollouts and moving the pocket...give him some easy reads and gradually open it up...

goddamn it never gets old.

you got rich gannon sitting in on qb meetings and coming out talking glowingly of how much info the kid retains and how much he identifies things in the film room...talks about how he's a quick study and very intelligent...says he's not andrew luck level but damn impressive...

only way you're gonna put that stuff to good use and get him more and more comfortable is to put that stuff to action in live full out reps on the field with guys who are gonna play on sundays...

does this kid strike any of you guys as one that can't handle failure??? i don't see it...i watched his teammates drop more balls than you could count with 10 hands in 2011 at a & m and the d just give games away and he never once looked like it effected him...he threw picks and came right back out firing...never phased him...kids got a good makeup

Got to be very careful how you bring in your supposed franchise QB, even the great ones will look bad in the beginning. Marino looked good aginst the raiders when he came in the 4th, then the next week, he made some mistakes, Manning had a very up and down 1st year with the Colts, as did Elway. Brees had up and down years for the Chargers, Favre was an INT machine his 1st year with the Packers, Brady when brought in late in games looked average at best .

I would love to see Tannehill from week 1, but nothing helps a player more then the right type of experience and time.

just an fyi but matt flynn was named the starter for the opening preseason game...so he must be showing something...nice low blow attempt though

meh, look at his competition.

Put Garrard and Moore on the seahawks and Flynn is the #3 QB.

Not just the money but they gave up a lot of picks. I think it was Whisenhunt that pushed for the trade too so it's now a no-win situation. If he plays Kolb they're going to lose cause Kolb sucks and if he doesn't play Kolb and starts Skelton then he admits he made a mistake and will probably get less say the next time he wants a player.

Jimmy Wilson broke up a pass from Tannehill to Michael Egnew. Couldn't believe Tannehill threw a pass to a TE.

Above is from Omar yesterday. Anyone else notice RT avoiding TEs as targets? TE should be one of our strengths this year. Let's see whom RT targets against Tampa.

cards fans are in for some ugly qb play this year...skeltons a backup level guy best thing they can do is develop ryan lindley

Let's see him work vs. another team in real setting first. Let's not ruin him just yet.

Didn't Tannehill throw a TD in the scrimmage to a TE? Omar :bobdole:
