I know I might be the only person who thinks this, but I really think Chris Williams from Vanderbilt is a better LT prospect then Jake Long.

Williams is more athletic and has better footwork then Long. Jake Long is stronger and probably a little better run blocker, but Williams IMO is definetly a better pass protector. I am actually a little suprised we don't here more about him.

If we could somehow trade down and get him I think that would be the best move of all. I still think the Dolphins are going to draft Jake Long, but I think I would rather draft Vernon Gholston if we stay at #1. But I ideally I would rather trade down and draft Chris Williams. Probably not going to happen, but just a thought.

I knew I might be, but Jake Long's pass blocking and lateral movement scare me off a little. I think speed rushers are going to be able to beat him around the corner. I do think he would be a solid RT though. Chris Williams is the ideal LT.

I am going to have to side with Jake Long on this one. I just can't get passed Williams arms and lack of strength at the point of attack.

I do like Chris Williams as a LT more than I do Jake Long at this point. His arm length really doesnt scare me. 32in arms is the bare minimum for me. I do like the way his feet move. Moves from side to side real well. Only thing I dont like about him is he needs to hit the weight room. To weak up top. Atheltically though, I think he is good to go. I do like Otah though as the best LT. I didnt see much of him at all except when he was hurt at the combine but Ive read what CK and Boomer have said about him and Im inclined to believe he is above Jake Long.

32 inch arms dont bother me as much as long as Williams gets good hand placement which he does most of the time. The strength again doesnt bother me as much since he is playing LT, but he does need to muscle up without losing to much hand quickness.

The arms become more of an issue for me when you combine them with the lack of ideal strength.

Agreed. However, its less of a concern to me at LT then at RT. No question he needs to get stronger.

Funny I think Otah is the best LT in this draft...not Jake Long...

This whole thread bothers me. 32 in arms are way too small for a tackle...especially for a LT. The idea is for the tackle to get into the defender...not the other way around.
Dorsey has 36 in arms...Taylor has long arms...Harvey has a wing span of 84 inchs...32 is far better for a guard than a tackle...and thats barely good enough.

Joe Thomas did just fine last year with 32 in arms. To me thats the bare minimum for a T.

Jake Long is head and shoulders above any tackle in this draft.
