Chris Williams is the man you want to keep your eye on. In college he had over 240 career receptions, 32 touchdowns, and over 3,500 yards. His senior year he had 86 receptions, 1,271 yards and 9 touchdowns. He ran a 4.28 40 yard dash at New Mexico State pro-day. He averaged 105.9 receiving yards per game to go along with 7.17 catches per game. This was good for fourth and twelfth in the nation resepectively. Along with this he earned All-WAC selection and was an extremely effective kick and punt returner during his time in college.

He is EXTREMELY Fluid in his route running and the way he catches the ball. catches the ball, looks it in and tries to exaggerate the catch and looking as much as possible. He is extremely quick and has good acceleration. The downside to him is that he is undersized at 5'8 160. If the coaches can find a way to utilize him, this will be the gem in the UDFA class from this year.

Ginn, Camarillo, Bess, Turner, Hartline (London if there is a sixth)

Williams just doesn't fit in.

not saying he will....but if we do keep 6 WR's, would it be that much of a shock if it were Williams (or even Armstrong) over London?

I would have London, Armstrong, and Williams all in a battle to make the team.

And don't be surprised if London is the odd man out

Practice squad is about the best I would expect from him at the moment

I disagree on Chris Williams making the team. We'll see. Perhaps the practice squad.

I'm not totally sure that a UDFA will make the team this year. But I said before that if we had to pick two guys to do the best among the UDFAs, for me they are Mark Lewis and Orion Martin.

I know a lot of other people were high on Brennan Marion and Louis Ellis...and I also really liked Marion, but that knee injury of his was way too recent and IMO they pushed him too hard. This was not a guy that had been attached to the Dolphins and their facilities, trainers, medical staff, etc...all the way from November onward, like Greg Camarillo has been. Marion only made it to the Dolphins in May, and they started working him out at the position shortly after. I haven't been comfortable thinking his knee would be fine enough to make it this year and sure enough he re-tore his ACL. As for Big Lou Ellis, I just think he's not only too raw in terms of body shape and fitness, but that he's too raw from a technique standpoint. He won't make the team, but he could be prime candidate for the practice squad.

There was also a lot of positive buzz on the UDFA tight end, Jared Bronson. I didn't watch him much in college. I'll admit that the overwhelming portion of my exposure to him was the All Star game in which he participated. But from that limited exposure, I didn't necessarily like what I saw. I think he was in over his head, and he left the team to start his life instead of pretending he could make it in the NFL.

I just hadn't seen anything from SirVincent Rogers that could convince me he might make it. Same with Ryan Baker. That leaves Orion Martin and Mark Lewis...two guys I think are prime practice squad material.

Sparano noted that Lewis has received 102 scrimmage snaps, second most on the team. He also said that the way you get more snaps is by being impressive. I knew when he was signed that Lewis would grow on the coaching staff because of his demeanor, technique, natural instincts for leverage and willingness to finish blocks. He's yet another of these guys that the front office acquires with the idea that they need to completely revamp their bodies and develop pro strength and conditioning. The idea being, you can't necessarily teach a guy to have a nastier demeanor, more will to engage people physically, or more will to finish blocks...or at least, it's not easy...but you CAN get a guy into the weight room and have your trainers hammer and iron the guy until he goes from looking like tweedledee to looking like hercules reborn.

Orion Martin has not gotten any buzz yet, which is unfortunate. He also hasn't managed to work his way up the special teams ladder yet, also unfortunate. I think he could show up as a solid player in the preseason games, though. He was a standout special teams player at Virginia Tech, and a very good run stopper at defensive end. He also dropped back into coverage a fair amount and did well.

All this talk of whether or not London will make the team is silly IMO. He is a lock.

I had Martin on my radar as well but they did switch him from DE to OLB. A switch that may take him time although he did drop in coverage quite alot at VT and was great at setting edge and containin his gap. I have seen a bunch of VT games since I live in Maryland/Virginia area. Martin is a solid young player, nothing too flashy, but he gets the job done. He would provide great ST play and good depth at the OLB position. It was between him and Williams and I have seen Williams play alot and he is extremely impressive.

I dont know too much about Mark Lewis to comment on him, but I will take your word for it.

Why? What has he done to be considered a lock? I give him the edge IF we keep 6 WR's.....but a lock??

He's done it on the field with "the lights on" as Sparano likes to say. He filled in admirably at the end of the season, especially with that huge catch against the Jets to keep the chains moving.

His solid special teams work also gives him an edge, and he has the size these guys covet.

I have no doubt he will be on the roster when the season starts.

Bro, he is far from a lock . . . remember Pat White is gonna get reps at WR in the wild cat . . . really that is 7 WR's . . . and we want to be a power football team. I think we are only gonna carry 5 WR's, with Pat White as the 6th guy in the wildcat. London has to beat out Hartline, which I don't think he will do.

Truth be told, if London makes it, like u said, it will be his special teams that gets him there . . . so essentially, he is almost competing with a guy like Erik Walden, Jason Allen and guys like that. Who are down on the depth chart, but are running with the first team special teams unit.

Good thing for Brandon is, I think this preseason is VERY important, and if he can make his mark there, the Fins may be forced to keep him, just to force a trade later on or just stash him like they did Murphy last season (which he wouldn't be stashed because he would be a full time special teamer)

I really like Brandon, but the numbers are not in his favor.

As far as Chris Williams goes, he has PS written all over him. He isn't making this roster, not saying he isn't talented, but its a numbers game.

If he makes the team it will bc of his special teams play. He is far from a lock. Filled in admirably??? He had 3 catches in 14 games. Some people need to look at peoduction over possible "potential".

Its too bad that he is a HUGE stiff when running routes. He cant dip his shoulder, sink his hips, or throw his head effectively. His double moves are hideous as well.

I don't see the Wildcat as a huge factor is determining who the WR's will be. Pennington, RW and Brown were WR's in the Wildcat. That obviously didn't designate them as a WR. Same thing with White. So White isn't a factor IMO as to the numbers of WR's kept.
