CJ Mosley working out for Miami

Thought you meant the LB drafted last year I was like wtf

I wouldn't count on much, he's on the wrong side of 30 and in the drug program

Like it. Like it. Like it. Had a big year next to Suh. Just make sure he is not messing with smoke alarms on the road.

is he better than Anthony Johnson, AJ Francis, or Kamal Johnson as our 4th DT (behind Suh, Mitchell and Phillips)?

i wonder why we would sign another DT, i hope no one got injured yesterday or today

Details on Dolphins' pursuit of veteran defensive tackle C.J. Mosley

The Dolphins, believing they need more veteran depth at defensive tackle, have offered a contract to veteran Lions free agent C.J. Mosley, who visited team heaquarters today.

“He had a great visit and the Dolphins made clear they would love to add him as soon as possible,” his agent, Harold Lewis, told me. “The ball is in C.J.’s court. A couple of other teams are interested in acquiring CJ. We’re hopeful a decision will be made this week.”

The Lions are interested in re-signing Mosley, who was their third defensive tackle last season. The identity of the third team is unknown.

Mosley, who is listed at 6-2 and 312 pounds, has started 31 games in 10 NFL seasons, including eight for the Lions last season alongside new Dolphin Ndamukong Suh.

He had 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season, and Pro Football Focus rated him 26th of 81 defensive tackles, with positive grades against the run and as a pass rusher. With Suh leading the way --- and Nick Fairley, Mosley and others offering support --- the Lions had the league's top-rated run defense last season.

Mosley spent the past two seasons with Detroit and also has played for Minnesota, the Jets, Cleveland and Jacksonville.

If he joins the Dolphins, he would have a good chance to be Miami’s No. 3 defensive tackle behind Suh and Earl Mitchell. (That would be contingent on Mosley beating out younger players, of course.)

Mosley's addition would ease the transition for second-round pick Jordan Phillips and create less urgency for him to play him a lot of snaps. Phillips and Anthony Johnson – a second-year undrafted rookie from LSU – have been logging a lot of second-team snaps in the offseason program.

A.J. Francis, Kamal Johnson, Deandre Coleman and undrafted rookie Ellis McCarthy are the other defensive tackles under contract.

Looks like we made him an offer.

Minimum this would be fantastic insurance should Phillips need more time to develop. Maximum this is a proven guy who contributed nicely alongside Suh should Mitchell and Phillips have down years. I'd love this signing...but wonder if the Dolphins are being used as leverage with his talks with the Lions.

Guess we will see!
