Clayton on Colts QB's

I hope the Colts go 0-16 and draft Luck and he flops...That would be hilarious

Mort has reported that if the Colts select Luck, Manning has too much respect for the #1 pick and will not stand in his way to play. Also, Manning spends a lot of time in South Fla. Don't sleep on the fact that he may come here, with a new coach and some decent offensive weapons in place already.

Teams on the cusp do not need him in most cases. Maybe the Jets? Skins? Titans? Seabags? What makes them so much better of a destination.

IF Manning is healthy and becomes free, Ross MUST make him the offseason priority for the sake of the franchise.

Amen to that! But we still need to draft a #1 round QB to learn under Peyton.

win 4 or 5 games this year, and we could end up with the 10th or worse pick. remember this....Washington has 2 wins too, but we beat them, that means if we end up with the same record, they pick ahead of us in every other round.
Washington has three wins, not two. Also, head-to-head wins/losses do not factor into tiebreaking scenerios for draft position.

Half the NFL spends time inSouth Florida. It means nothing. If Manning is traded I am fairly certain Irsay will let him pick his destination within reason. Look for the 49ers to be a landing spot. It would be ideal for both sides.

So either NFL insider John Clayton is right or you are....I will take Clayton.
I may be wrong but I dont get paid nor have Inside access. But those who do are not always right.

Ive been watching a lot of Luck lately, and Im going to be honest...he doesnt impress me at all. He looks very average, and most of his yards come from YAC on dump off or short passes. He has a great arm, and accuracy but he doesnt take many risks on throws down field either. I think the colts would be stupid to cut Manning, unless hes injured and wont be coming back by next season.

The criticism for Luck will mount the closer we get to the draft as people try to continue to poke holes in his game...I would still take him #1 overall, but someone else may take Barkley #1 if he comes out. I think it will be between the two of them, I don't see Landry Jones sneaking in there or (everyone's favorite around here) RGIII.

If the Colts think Andrew Luck is another Peyton Manning they're going to be in for a rude awakening. That whole team is going to need a huge makeover. You don't go 0-16, which looks very likely now, and expect to plug in a QB and be an instant playoff team. Won't happen.

I would love for the Colts to release Manning and for us to sign him the unfortunate part of that is if it were to happen it won't be until after the draft. It would be great to get him in here before the draft, draft a QB like Tannehill and have him sit and learn for a couple of years behind Manning and then move into the transition. Unfortunately I think we're going to have to attack the draft and look for a QB that can start day 1 and IMO I only see 3 guys that can do that right now...Luck, Barkley and Weeden. Jones waits for his receivers to come open, doesn't throw with any anticipation...a lot like Henne in that regard. Tannehill I think is probably close but needs more grooming and RGIII is coming from the same system that Kevin Kolb played in and Kolb still hasn't caught on to an NFL system...that's not a great measure of what RGIII might or might not do but from what I've seen his mechanics need work and he looks to be closer to 6' rather than 6'2".

If you don't think the Colts will jump all over Luck regardless of Manning's situation or feelings then you are kidding yourself...

The fact that they are on the cusp of an 0-16 season without him demonstrates how important that position is... it does not matter that Luck is untested... it is THE POSITION... A concept the Dolphins HAVE NEVER gotten their heads around despite having number 13 all those years... Manning is absolutely showing signs of breaking down and it just so happens this comes in a year when one of the best all round prospects in decades is coming out...

No one can fault them for pulling the trigger, not even Manning.

Yeah, Ross must make a 36 year old QB coming off of major neck surgery who is going to suffer from debilitating pain and reduced mobility for the rest of his life the priority for a 3-13 team.

It's amazing how this ****ty team keeps making the same mistakes year after year and people just lap it up.

It's really not fair. They sacrifice 1 year to be great again while we'll probably win 5-6 games and draft another linemen.

On the contrary, it's entirely fair. As painful as it is to admit as a Miami Dolphins fan, the Colts are positioning themselves for future success. They can see the forest for the trees, and they understand that with the rule changes that have been put in place in the NFL, one position has become so important that one man can make or break an entire franchise for years.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins organization continues to try to scrape by with marginal coaching, marginal talent evaluators, and marginal quarterback play. We think that it's great that the players 'play hard' for Tony Sparano (which I don't buy for a second after watching that Victor Cruz touchdown in the Giants game), and think this is somehow as important as his ability to gameplan and manage the team.

It is, in fact, the most fair of all things that the Colts continue to have success because the guys at the top of their organization are smart enough to realize that one man equals the franchise. Meanwhile, the New York Jets will continue to be irrelevant for as long as they believe that they can scrape by with Mark Sanchez being just good enough to sort of run a ball control offense. And the Miami Dolphins will continue to be garbage as we make bonehead moves like bringing in a 36 year old QB coming off of major neck surgery who has spent years coaching up his receivers and building a rapport with them and who will have just one rehab-shortened offseason to try to emulate that success down here.

Well alright, maybe it's not fair to the fans. We don't have any say in it. But it's definitely fair to the Dolphins organization. They are clowns, and they deserve to have the success that is due to clowns.

Yah I agree with you. We've had *** clowns running this organization for most of my 18 year life. If they keep Ireland I will have very little hope of this team turning it around.
