Cornerback Nate Clements plans to test free agency next month, leaving the Buffalo Bills potentially without their top defensive play-maker.
"One hundred percent, yeah," Clements' agent, Todd France, told The Associated Press on Thursday, when asked if his client plans to test the market once the NFL's free-agency period opens March 2.

France said it's in Clements' best interest to pursue free agency, while adding the player is open to re-signing with the Bills if they produce a competitive offer. France said he's had no in-depth discussions with Buffalo, but will keep the team "in the loop as to what's going on."

Well if Clements does hit the open market, should Miami splash the cash for him?

I will tell you there has been alot of talk about this in buffalo. And one reason no offer has been made is because they do not want to set the base-line for the market. Because Nate does want to cash in. So the Bills are going to let him get in the Market and see what he is offered. And then match if they want. Now that being said Look out cause most likely who-ever wants him will get in a bidding war. Knowing Skins and 49ers are intersted in him

well from everything I am hearing he is looking for champ type money. Like I said no official offer has been made in buffalo because they do not want to set the baseline.

But rumor has it wants a contract that translates to about 6-8 mil a year. With about 15-19 garenteed.

see these guys are going to be the ones setting the market. and in Buffalo there has been alot of talk recently about Rod Hood out of Philly, because will not demand as much.

look for Nate and Asante do get about the same type money. Now the good thing is rumor has it Pats will not match. Now Buf it is a different story because Nate said he will give the Bills chances before signing a deal with another team
 
I find Asante Samuel as a more realistic option, because Clements is gonna get a ton just for his name alone. He's still an elite player, mind you. Nonetheless, I'd love either one.
 
If we can afford him I'd be happy to bring him here. Clements could start at corner for us for the next five seasons at least.
 
While I think we should try and get one of the two top CB's that probably are coming available (assuming no tag), I just get the bad feeling these guys are going to be asking and getting an insane amount of money because there are not a ton of top f/a's hitting the market this year and some teams have cap money burning a hole in their pocket. If he or AS are really going to demand Champ Bailey type money, then we will most likely not be getting either one of these guys. I don't see Cam selling the farm on one or two free agents.
 
I think France is also Ronnie's agent. Not that it means anything I just felt like pointing it out...
