Clemons vs. Jones

I have occasionally heard rumblings from Clemens supporters about Jones taking bad angles. Although I dont recall which play against Dallas last week, there was one that really stood out. His angle was horrible and the WR went past him easily.

I am with you on wanting Jones for his playmaking ability but there could be that occasional big play he may give up on a bad angle.

That was the screen. If he wouldve taken a better angle dude may have scored. He caught him from behind from across the field.

I would pick Clemons to start over Jones, but thats just my IMO. I really like how solid and smart Clemons was for us last year. He only had 1 INT but he also was the one that caused the Ben Roethlisberger fumble. He had his hands on a lot of passes and if he had pulled 2 or 3(Which were more routine plays) those down combined with his play against Pittsburgh than I don't think we'd be having this competition this year.

I love Jone's potential but I'll take a FS who I trust to get everyone lined up correctly. We should have a really good defense so I don't think we should gamble with a kid who may cause an extra big play or 2 a game if he doesn't get our secondary lined up. Than again it's just my opinion.

I do think Jones is going to be the starter. He's started the last two preseason games combined with Clemon's recent injury would make me put my money on Jones as our new starting FS.

All else equal, I would prefer Reshad Jones. We really need a ball hawking FS, and Chris Clemons is clearly not that guy.

Put it this way: We know what we have in Chris Clemons. We don't know what we have in Reshad Jones. If the two guys are currently tied, I would rather give more playing time to Reshad Jones, to explore his ceiling, and have a chance to uncover a ball hawking FS that we desperately need.

Of course, if Reshad Jones is constantly getting burned and not making any INTs, then we switch back to Chris Clemons, the safe containment guy.

Either way, I think its a good think that the Pats aren't gonna know who they are lining up against.
