Cleo Lemon maybe the anserw for the dolphins qb crisis. My theory is that he played well enough this fall to put Rivers on the trade block next year. Rivers is a talent but with Brees, Rivers will not be happy on the bench and Lemons who is great player offers San Diego a cheaper backup Qb. Anyone who saw Lemons play tonight I believe will agree that he is a talent that San Diego will not let go of thus making Rivers expendable.

If SD is going to give up on rivers after ONE season and go with some guy named cleo lemon (i have no clue who this guy is i've never heard of him before). than that alone should tell you something about rivers.

and you realized this from watching Lemon play for two quarters? Here's something for you: Sage threw for more yardage with the same number of TDs.... and he's already on our roster.

i knew this thread was coming....

The kid had a great game, but it's a bit too late to bring in a new qb... let alone another teams back up.

that said, lets see how long it takes before Saban panics and calls Couch or Davey.

Maybe you should read the whole post as I state very clearly next year on Rivers. Rivers won't sit behind Brees 3 years. He will be available next year and we should get him.

Could someone please fill me in on who the heck Cleo Lemon is? i mean other than being 3rd string in SD.

Thats would be more up to the SD front office than Rivers. Rivers has a contract if they want him to be a back the entire time he is with team that is up to them.

true.

but the bottom line is SD won't pick up the tab to keep both Rivers and Brees on the roster. This year is really the trial year - to see if Brees' last year was a fluke or is the new norm. If Brees continues to play like he did last year, i can see the Chargers dealing Rivers out. If Brees sucks, then Rivers would get the nod. Option 3 is Brees does well and the Chargers deal Brees out for draft picks, and then start Rivers.

Actually no. He is the highest rated passer this preseason for san diego. The ideai was actually discussed on the coverage this evening after the game. Here is something for you all three qb for the dolpins suck. yes Sage too. You can dream about some 3rd string savior rising for nowhere to lead the dolphins or you can do like all other sucessfull franchise do and groom a young talent.

Cleo Lemon had a good preseason. He is mobile, fast, with a strong arm. He showed good command on the field and very good awareness.

right. 'cause Cleo Lemon is definitely not 3rd stringer on the Chargers, right?

I'm not saying Sage is the end-all answer, but how can you sit there and point at another team's 3rd stringer who has less-impressive stats than our own 3rd stringer and offer up the advice that we take a look? seriously?

over the course of the entire preseason, Sage has put up better #'s across the board - passer rating, completion percentage, more TDs, more yards, etc.... so why look?

I didn't. I said he played well enough that San Diego may trade Rivers next year. Lemons is the cheaper backup to Brees. My post is a bit confusing but my arguement is that Rivers is expendable next year assuming Brees continues to play well. I believe Rivers has loads of talent and we would be stupid not to make a play for him. But considering Miami's head in the sand approach to the qb position it would not surprise me to see some old retread in here next year. Dolphins use to be known for qb play. Now we are the laughing stock of the nfl. Time to take a risk on a young qb.

He's played well but I'm not sure if he's 'the answer'. Even if we bring in Rivers, draft Leinart or do elsewhat, the QB situation will take a while to be addressed.

the guy was doing all that against San Frans 3rd string players and San Fran had a worse record than we did last year...take that into consideration as well
