Clump's 3 rd Mock Draft

Wishful thinking that Ronnie Brown will fall to us at #9

Hardly, not really wishful thinking when that mock draft is projected by a Bills fan.

Also, interesting how you had Jax trading up. Rumors here are that they signed David Garrard earlier this week in order to use him as trade bait to trade up. They'd love Pac man...but most mocks have him going to washington.

I doubt they covet a certain player....eventhough they need pac man badly. Their whole mantra since Shaq Harris and Del Rio have gotten here has been BPA.

Interesting thought though. Why sign garrard,...a backup to a $2M signing bonus and a 5 year contract this week?

Overall a Miami fan would have to be pretty pleased with that scenario. Just to get Ronnie Brown at #9 would be tremendous , I doubt he lasts though... I fully expect Miami to take a QB on the first day .

I do think Miami will trade down at least twice. How you have it unfold would be great , a couple spots down a couple times.... One thing for certain , Philadelphia will be trading . With the roster depth they have and the plethora of selections ,they would be cutting relatively high draft choices to make the final roster. They just have too many players when you factor in all this years draft choices.

So if we did get Washington's #25 , and say Jason Campbell was gone ( my hope at #25) I could see Philadelphia move up for say a WR they really like , using their selection at #31 and 2nd and 3rd.

Clump I am sure if Nick Saban saw your mock he would be pleased.... he would tinker with it , but he would certainly like the ened result IMO :)

At the end of the day , Miami will have explored several trade down scenarios and I believe been involved with at least 2 of them , adding more 2nd round selections and a n additonal third. As I say , I fully expect a QB selection , as to where, well that we shall see... we shall see how Saban actually views the QB's after Alex Smith.

Just because he's a Bills fan doesn't mean he's credible. I'm sorry, this is a very nice job at a mock draft, but to expect Chicago to let Ronnie Brown slip past them, and then expect Arizona to do the same thing, is just preposterous. If we trade down to 9, we're looking at Cedric Benson, at best, and perhaps not even him.

Come on folks, I want to rob everyone blind as much as you, but no one out there is going to help us do it. Reaslism is still very important...

i'd rather take Mcpherson in the third, otherwise, it's great

I also agree on McPherson. Do you really think the Redskins will trade up to take Carlos Rodgers at 5, ahead of Rolle? I really think he'd be there at 9.

Here is my only effort to predict the first three rounds of the upcoming 2005 NFL Annual Selection Meeting. Outside of the actual games, the draft is one of my "vacations". I haven't missed watching the draft since 1985 when I was down in San Antonio at Ft. Sam Houston going through the Army's lab School. I used to come home on leave when I was stationed at Ft. Polk so I could watch the draft. To me, draft weekend is a holiday!

I see the draft for what it truly is: a reflection of future needs. Rarely should a team utilize the draft for short term goals of improving the team. Free agency and/or trades are the best options for those short term needs. Each year, 256 players are drafted and approximately 10% of those picks make substantive contributions for the entire season. Another 15% make contributions for portions of the season. The other 75% end up as developmental types on either the roster or practice squad or are released, cut, and/or waived. Thus, immediate help is rarely found om draft day.

The draft should be used to address concerns a team has in the future. Salary cap, age, future free agency, and draft stregth are all considerations come draft day. It has been expressed that this years draft is weaker than in the recent few years. It's is qualified by draft experts statements of the Bills 2004 1st rd pick (20th overall) QB J.P. Losman would have been in competition for #1 overall this year.

Players that could be traded and affect first day rds: OL L. J. Shelton (AZ), RB Travis Henry (Buf), CB Pat Surtain (Mia) -traded to KC, DE Darren Howard (NO), DT Corey Simon (Phil), CB Ronde Barber (TB), QB Chris Simms (TB), DE Simeon Rice (TB), WR Rod Gardner (Wash), or one of the Vikes RBs

Pre-draft prediction: Bills finalize trade with Bucs for RB Henry with swap of 2nd rd picks on Friday.

While working on this, the Surtain to KC deal was reported and was used in the mock.

I originally planned on included detailed reasoning, but just not enough time in the day

Im only saying that he doesn't have a biased aproach to us drafting Ronnie or the trade situation working the way it did in his mock. Its his opinion and perspective therefore not wishful thinking. I also think that Brown won't be there at #9.

Was that needed? The quote that is.. way too long.

If this draft happened, I'd be doing a victory dance on the front lawn, lol. If we got Ronnie Brown, Roddy White, Corey Webster AND Daryl Blackstock...that would be absolutely amazing. Great job Clumpy!

Here's mine: (I'm really just posting this to have a timestamped copy of it) :)

top 10, in order of selection:

1. sf - alex smith
2. min - braylon edwards
3. cle - ronnie brown
4. chi - cedric benson
5. tb - mike williams
6. ten - antrel rolle
7. mia - cadillac williams
8. ari - pac-man jones
9. skins - carlos rodgers
10. det - derrick johnson

"1,25 - Miami (Den/Wsh) - WR Roddy White (UAB)"

i am so glad this will not end up being the case, unless he falls well into the second round... i know someone who coached him in high school. unless he has grown up an awful lot, trust me, we do not want him.
