He said in his opening press conference that he is calling plays. I get the feeling he's the type that doesn't like to give that up to someone else...it his baby.
 
He's coached Andrew Luck. Josh Freeman looked good there after Luck got hurt. Could be an interesting hire.

Pagano kept him on staff as the quarterbacks coach and he is very well-regarded and very popular among the quarterbacks on the team. Earlier this year, Chuck Pagano referred to him as the best quarterbacks coach in the NFL

When the OC only has half the power of a normal OC you dont tend to get the sexy names.



I am no expert on this guy but this is the Gase O and the Gase scheme, our OC needs to be Philbin in Green Bay, keep things ticking over, do some gameplanning, run meetings. And personally I welcome another experienced QB coach...

Agreed, I never expected a big name.

Hopefully he can teach tannehill how to side step from a pass rusher or two.

He's really just going to be no more than an assistant probably up on the booth. Somebody has to let Gase know how things are looking from up there
