Clyde Gates - WR - Dolphins
Dolphins WR Clyde Gates revealed that he played all of his rookie season with a torn groin.

Gates said he "fought through" the injury, though it's not known if he underwent surgery. Now healthy, Gates is expected to compete for the starting job opposite Brian Hartline. Though he was the fastest receiver in last year's draft, Gates' pre-snap reads and route running left a lot to be desired in 2011. Per Rotoworld

Now that he is healthy, I hope he tears it up this year.

Not expecting a thing from Clyde. I'll gladly stand up and apologize if i'm wrong.

He didnt really get alot of reps in games last year that I can think of...I do remeber him coming in a few times when we ran the ball..Kinda like a decoy?

I hope he can step up and do something.

So Gates was playing hurt..... Bess was playing hurt... Daniel Thomas was playing hurt.... Jake Long was playing hurt... Cameron Wake also said he was playing hurt..
Soon this is becoming "Dolphins Hospital"

Low expectations can be a good thing. If the dude turns into a legit player, I'll be happy, but I'm fully expecting him to be a non factor.

Interesting. I wonder if it was the same injury he was battling through his draft preparation and into the Combine.

I could see Clyde stepping up this year. All depends on how our staff develops him.

you know seriously ... you have to write off last season and give everyone a clean slate, because the coaches last year couldn't develope a toasted cheese sandwhich.

I think he's gonna surprise some of you guys. I think he's a homeless person's Mike Wallace; even with a torn groin that boy could fly. I predict he'll have around 30 catches, lead the team in yards per reception, stretch the field, and you'll all generally be happy with him after the year. That said I still think we'll be looking to add another dynamic receiver through the draft or FA next year to put opposite of Hartline.

Due to IMO, out lack of early work outs, we had a number of players, mostly rookies who played the season hurt. Thomas, Clay and Gates all played hurt. And in those types of injuries like hamstrings etc, only time off can heal them. I expect a lot more out of all three of them this season.

exactly, seeing as Sparano came out publicly and said he wished he had given Patrick Turner more playing time in meaningless game or where the game was already over, obviously it may not have mattered because Turner could have sucked regardless but at least try him out so you can determine if you need to cut bait sooner

everything Sparano did or more importantly did NOT do, only further proved he was just Parcells personal puppet who was not qualified at all for a head coaching position at all

Gates is the low man on the totem pole at this point. That is why we drafted and signed several receivers. I will not be surprised to see him cut.
If he makes the team..good for him. I am expecting Philbins guys to make the squad.

Tony your wish is granted. You now have the opportunity to give Patrick Turner a lot more playing time.
