• BANKS: NFC East training camp preview

Nick Saban's Dolphins won their final six games of 2005 to finish 9-7 and serve notice that the AFC East is no longer the exclusive playground of the New England Patriots. From the outset of Saban's first season in Miami, it was clear he had a plan to transform the Fish into a tough, tenacious team capable of battling an opponent for the full 60 minutes. The next step of the Dolphins' return to playoff contention likely hinges on newly acquired quarterback Daunte Culpepper rebounding from last year's season-ending knee injury. Maybe the coup of the offseason for Miami was the hiring of two quality coordinators: former head coaches Dom Capers (defense) and Mike Mularkey (offense).

Wow, the Jets play Indy, Jax, NE, and us that early? That alone my end their season, as they may not recover.

Good read! this should be an interesting year..hopefully we will be vying w/ the pats for 1st while we watch the JETS and Bills tailspin...

My jaw nearly dropped to the floor when I read this:

Impact player in the making
RONNIE BROWN, MIAMI

With Ricky Williams playing in the CFL while he serves his one-year NFL suspension, there will be no more splitting carries for the Dolphins' second-year running back. Brown led all AFC rookie rushers with 907 yards, but that should be just a precursor to much bigger things to come as the club's every-down back. Brown has great explosion and should benefit from Miami's offseason efforts to improve its offensive line.

That totally doesn't fit with his Ronnie Brown bashing and Cadillac Williams suckjob last year.

And then to top it off, he wrote this...

Biggest splash of the offseason

Miami could have landed Drew Brees, who was coming off of shoulder surgery. Instead the Dolphins opted for upgrading their quarterback position by acquiring Culpepper, who is trying to return from shredding three knee ligaments last October. If Miami winds up getting the Culpepper of 2004, who was the MVP runner-up in Minnesota, it'll be the heist of the decade. But if Culpepper is the erratic, mistake-prone passer he was in the first half of last season, his quest to rehabilitate his reputation will prove tougher than returning his knee to full health.

Which is the first time I've seen him take on the Culpepper/Brees dilemma without talking about how we should have taken Brees. Yeesh, where have you gone Don Banks.

I can't stand the guy, I wanna slap that smirk off his face. I read that site daily, and this is the first time he's mentioned the Dolphins and has NOT derided Daunte or his comeback. I'm figuring he FINALLY realizes he can't anymore since all the press has been positive about his recovery.

Not a bad read at all. But Reche Caldwell in the Top 10 AFC East Impact Players? Psssssssssh
Someone I know who knew someone else had a bird that knew a guy who used to partake in Ricky Williams' favorite pasttime with Reche. Won't be Top 10 if he keeps that up!

EDIT: I posted a little after ck, and those are my sentiments exactly!

Do you guys have any idea as to how Brees is doing, CK have you seen anything on him

To have put that more eloquently would have taken from it's accuracy. Well put.

and for the poll of what team will win the division, Miami is just slightly under New England on the poll at 43% while N.E is 46%, which isn't too bad, I expected N.E to be favored a little, but that's close. It looks like other people think Miami will be pretty good this season also.
