I wanted to bring up an interesting discussion here about yesterdays game. It is the day after so I have had time to vent so I wont be calling anybody out and saying players suck. To the point, Yesterday was a very back and forth type game with a very fast tempo. Now what I wanted to bring up was Coaching adjustments that could have possibly occured.
After we scored our first TD to make it 7-3 and then New England scored their TD to make it 10-3. Now we had the ball that ensuing drive and scored a TD very fast and did it all through the air. The main point is, should we have changed our offensive ways to slow down the tempo to our comfort level????
I felt like we were getting into a shootout that we as a team, could not win. We should of slowed down the tempo by running the ball consistently and controlling the clock. Instead we would score very fast and give New England the ball with our defense still slightly winded. We have been a very good team running the football with Ronnie getting the load of touches. Yesterday, earlier in the game he showed me he was running the ball effectively. That defense did not show me anything that would make me say, lets abandon the run and pass our way to the endzone for short drives. Thinking we could win a shootout against a New England team was kind of foolish in a sense. We scored 28 points, which is good, but isnt good in a shootout, If we would of scored 28 in our own fashion of football, we would have won.
What are your thoughts on this subject? Should we have slowed down the tempo or keep on with the shootout???
