Coach of the YEAR .......(is in the bag)

necessarily because unless we win a few games in the post season. the coach that gets the farthest, would win it I think. It's not how it should be but that is the way it will end up IMO.

It should be by best turnaround but they will go with a super bowl champ, or afc or nfc champ since the Titans, Falcons, Dolphins and Ravens will likely make the playoffs (Titans clinched) it will be a tough decision.

I say Sparano but people seem to hate the Dolphins in general unless your a fan (media especially).

i think it is between our head coach and atlanta's head coach...which ever team goes farther or has the better record will win coach of the year

I think the top 5 (no order) is:

1. Tony Sparano (Miami)
2. Mike Smith (Atlanta)
3. John Harbaugh (Bmore)
4. Jeff Fisher (Tennessee)
5. John Fox (Carolina)

I don't think he's got it wrapped up but he's in the running for sure.
you're right about that...there are a few other coaches who're making strong cases for that award...it'd be nice if Coach Sparano does win it though, he's very deserving of it....

IMO it will come down to which team (Mia or Atlanta) becomes the media darling between now and the end of the year. Personally, I think the Dolphins have a better chance to do that, since their story is a much better Cinderella/feel good story. If they make the playoffs (fingers crossed), I think the Phins bandwagon is going to have some major steam in the media.

agreed

Coach Tony Sparano has this award lock up ...imo

Not so fast, Mike Smith of Atlanta is definitely at the top with Sparano. The Phin fan in me says Tony has it, but the football fan in me reminds me that we can't overlook what Smith has done with ATL.

there are many coaches to consider.. all the rookie head coaches (Smith, Sparano, Harabaugh) have done a tremendous job, also Fisher in Tennessee and maybe even Belichick because he's handled all the injuries and still has the Pats in the playoff race..

but imo it will come down to Mike Smith and Tony and for sure I am hoping that Tony gets it because if we win 10 games this season is officially the best turnaround in NFL history.. you gotta love how he can motivate his players and they respect him but not fear him and know they can mess around with him.. reminds me of Mike Tomlin who has an similar attitude there as Tony

Give it to Parcells rather than Sparano.

Why? I haven't seen Bill Parcells on the sidelines at all this season. Now, if your referring to the "imaginary" Coach Parcells that lives in your head, then you might have a point. However, in this strange and wacky place we call "reality" Coach Sparano is the man who leads that team on Sundays, not Bill Parcells.

Give it to Parcells rather than Sparano.

No doubt Parcells has had an influence on who we drafted, what scheme we run on defense . . . what type of offense to run. BUT when it comes to coaching on Sundays . . . Parcells is NOWHERE to be found . . . it's Sparano. Just how we would want Parcells to take over if we were like 2-11 . . . we gotta give Tony all the props and respect for leading us to 8-5. He has done an incredible job, don't take that away from him.

I can't remember which station it was espn or nfl network that gave the edge to mike smith. the reason was that the michael vick ordeal was a huge setback for the team and the city
