Listened to the interview, and every time I hear Philbin speak I come away even more impressed. The guy is very professional in the way he speaks and never stumbles over his words or gets flustered by questions. Hopefully he turns out to be a great coach also.

One of the key things I took out of that interview is what he said about the receivers. Obviously he places catching the ball consistently as the top priority for a receiver, whether that be a WR, TE or RB coming out of the backfield (as he mentioned Miller needing to get more consistent catching the ball as well). This should help Bess and Hartline stick but the rest of the WR core is going to need to step up because no one has shown any consistency catching the football and the last two OTAs that were viewed by the media has had a lot of reports of B.J. Cunningham dropping a lot of passes.

It reminds me a bit of 2008 when Pennington got here. That year we didn't have any big time receivers...Camarillo and Ginn I believe were the starters and Fasano and David Martin were heavily involved in the passing game from the TE position as well. One of the things I mentioned here that year was that we may not have game breakers but that squad didn't drop any balls and I'm pretty sure we led the league that year in fewest drops...Bess was also a rookie that year and helped add to the consistency of catches.

Good interview.

Philbin has impressed me too, from day one, and more everytime I watch & hear him.

I wish the new Coach luck. He seems very even keeled. Hopefully the owner will give him enough time & space to succeed.

I'm very excited about Hard Knocks and the future of the Dolphins. The AFC East is no cake walk though.

It's so refreshing to hear Coach Philbin speak. The clarity in his voice, and the consistent nature in how he coveys his thoughts are truly admirable. Simply put, we are blessed to have him.

Good interview. He always gives well-thought answers.

Funny how Joe Rose really wanted to hook him up for future interviews and for them to become something regular.

Philbin gives insight to the draft too. Basically Philbin signed off on every pick with Ireland. So far so good with this team.

Can't imagine what conversations Sparano and Ireland had.....

I always liked Tony and rooted for him to suceed but he always seemed in a little bit over his head. Learning on the job with Tuna as a safety net.
Philbin speaks and acts like he's done this before and knows exactly what to do to be a winner.
Maybe it's the Packers mindset. Maybe it's the playoff and super bowl experience. What ever it is the differance is ovious and I believe we are in good hands now.

He didn't say that. He said, "if asked, I certainly offered opinions". That is not "Philbin signed off on every pick..." The "if" to me means that Ireland may not have even asked him in some cases...

Philbin did not have the time to do any reseach on college player nor is that his job. He probably gave Ireland positions he wanted to address and let Ireland pick which players did that best. Ireland has the scouts and info not Philbin. I doubt Philbin had much input other than position needs. Same as most head coaches.

Yep, won't argue that one bit...
