NFL Network caught footage of Philbin speaking with Dansby in a private conversation at practice. The Dolphins gave an indication of what he said to the press when asked about Dansby's comments.
"You have a boss, I have a boss," Philbin said. "I don't always agree with what the boss says every single time. I'm of the opinion that you should keep things in house in that regard."
Dansby clearly got the message.
"That's any organization; any organization is not going to stand for that. NFL period won' stand for it. The shield is what we are protecting at all times, so we just got to man up and be accountable for our actions."
This is going to be some episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks."

You can see pretty clearly to what degree Chad would have been a distraction all season long just based on how Dansby responded to this.

Joe doesn't mess around. This isn't Cam at all. Cam would have given him an "Aw shucks hyuck hyuck, that's just Karlos. hyuck hyuck." I like it. Lets see if he can win! I think he can but I'm trying to be caustious with my enthusiasm. Been let down a lot lol.

Calmly but firmly taking control of the situation before it becomes even more of outta hand, that's some leadership for ya....kudos Coach Philbin!

So Belichick releases Chad for being terrible at football and no big deal. Philbin releases him for assaulting his wife and getting arrested, and he now has to explain himself to the media, and to his (supposed, I can show up to camp thirty pounds over-weight and still be voted a Captain while I earn a tremendous amount of money) captain. Something's off here.

No kidding....love the people that said Chad didn't break up lockerrooms....

Philbin has his work cut out for him early on here.

Like coach Philbin's style more and more.

What's confusing to me is that you have this faction on the board that labels him as being soft. I have not seen that at all. What I have seen from Philbin is a coach who appears to have a vision about how he would like to run this team and he is going to run the team the way the best helps him reach the goal of his vision. Now, I'm not sure if his plans will work. That much remains to be seen. I do feel that we need to allow this process to take root, sprout and see what develops from the seeds....

Hopefully he looked into Dansby's eyes when he said this, unlike his original chat with Chad.

He did look Chad in the eyes, several times. He just didn't have a stare down with him. Bottom line though, he made it clear to Chad what his expectations were. Chad didn't hold up his end of the deal....

I agree with his sentiment, but honestly, it didn't even look like they were having a conversation. Philbin was looking at the ground the majority of the time. When I'm having a talk with someone over something like that, I would prefer that they look into my eyes the majority of the time.

I like Philbin, and like the way he is running things for the most part, but that little conversation made me a bit uncomfortable because it didn't seem like he was in control of the situation.

Yeah, you know it.

He has had to do it on camera too. He looks good not doubt about it. Ross made a good choice. It has yet to be shown how good he is at winning games but he has shown himself to be a very good coach. Calm and in charge, he isn't shy or scared to show who he really is.

I like Saban a lot, but can you imagine Saban on Hard Knocks?

It would have been X-rated for gore and violence. :ponder: :d-day:
