Some of the Daunte supporters struggle in this area so I thought I might help.

You can't take JT's, Cam's, Linehan's or any other former or current coach/players comments on Daunte to mean he will be on the team. All Cam said was the position will be a competition. He may have been asked about Daunte but, he never used his name to say that Daunte will be a part of the competition. And all JT did was pretty much wish the guy well. Same thing Linehan did. Giving vague answers and not direct statements means nothing, especially during draft and FA time. I never heard JT say he wanted Daunte on the team. Im sure unlike me he has respect for Daunte and won't say anything negative about him. You would think a fan of this team would've learned a coach could flat out lie if he wanted to, although Cam never did, he just stepped around the question. Im sure he hopes one of the two dumbest orginizations in the league(detroit, oakland) would trade a pick for Daunte.

Reporter Question: Do you think Culpepper will be ready to start opening day?
Cams answer: The QB position will be an open competition. No one will be given the job.
Translation to Cams answer: Trent Green will not be handed the job. He will compete with a rookie we draft. If we are lucky enough to get Quinn it is possible Trent will mentor him as Quinns backup should Quinn be impressive enough in camp. Otherwise the he or another rookie will compete with Lemon who will likely hold some clipboards.

My thoughts on the rest of the QB's:

1) Cleo Lemon-- a good 3rd stringer. Would be nice to have a rookie that could at least back up Green.

2) Green/Carr -- Isnt it obvious we are getting Green at some point. He is the perfect fit. We will definately draft a Qb that will hopefull start within 2 seasons. Meantime Green dosen't have to learn the system and potentially cost us some early games due to discomfort with the scheme. Everything else is a smokescreen/chess game going on with other teams. Carr is a joke. I admit Im worried about Trent Green a lil, but it makes sense. Carr will go to a team that wants to put stock in him being the starter for 6 or 7 years.

3) Gil Hambone-- Who? This must be the finheaven's next Lemon. I have the same amount of optimism in a NFL Europe player making our team as a Manchester United fan has in a MLS player making theirs.

BTW.... I hear screaming about Greens age which is exactly why no other team is about to offer more than Miami will for him. He may have drawn a late round pick offer from another team but, not likely. The Chiefs know Miami is their partner, they just want to milk as much as they can. They need to convince Miami that if he is cut another team may offer more money than the phins want to pay him but would. Chess match. Carr is a pawn in it right now as well as draft order and Detroit. Green will be a phin.

I know all of this hurts some of you who have already had a franchise in madden going with Daunte in it. Some of you have won 3 bowls already with Daunte. But, its time. Time to put all the pipe dreams away and wash our hands. We messed up big. Saban, and Culpepper over Brees has been a killer setback. So we lost a 2nd round pick. Can't get it back now by letting Daunte start us out 0-3. It's time to move on.

What's kinda funny is the only time we got to see that stupid traveling violation dance was actually on that TV commercial for Madden. Ironic.

Its not as obvious anymore since KC wants a 2nd and another undisclosed pick for him. Personally I dont think he is worth anymore than a 6th but I bet they will meet somwhere around a 4th now. I wish we would just sign Carr because he wont cost us anything in terms of picks. Carr's salary will als be far less than Green's. Regardless of if we get Carr or Green I see us taking a QB somewhere on the first day of the draft.

And who the h*** is Gil Hambone? I have never heard of this guy

Gibran Hamdan, QB on our roster. Next Brock Berlin.

I doubt Mueller offers a 4th for him. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he sticks to the 7th offer but he will probably go up to a 6th. If they don't take it, than I don't think we make the trade. If Mueller gives up anything more than a 6th for a 37 year old QB he isn't as smart as I thought he was.

The fact is no one here knows that Culpepper is finished so all this talk is irrelevant.

No, but we can't afford to keep to starting caliber QB's on our roster at 5m+ per year. Thats why I dont see Dante staying. June 1st is right around the corner

Why not give it a rest? You've made your point ad nauseam: you think he has a funny name and you have no idea who he is. We get it. You've stated this in every single QB related post.
While I agree with you that the guy is probably not in our future, the fact is, he was a good QB while playing for Indiana University.
I also agree that Cleo is probably a career back up at this point.
And as for Culpepper; you're most likely correct that he won't be here on opening day. I don't agree though that he's washed up. I think he's going to heal up and do just fine. But it's looking like it'll be for another team.

I agree with you about the whole"HAMBONE" reference was cute the first
2 or three times but it's not funny anymore and is getting quite annoying!!

Having trouble collecting your thoughts?

I think you just broke the record for number of your own posts starting out a thread.

Yea, just sometimes when i type out a really long post something goes wrong and I have to try again. So I figured I would spread it out. I get your point about the hambone deal. I will start calling him Hamdan. Hopefully there wont be anymore talk about him though. Just always bothered me how people built up Lemon on here and I dont want it to happen with this Hamdan bum.

Of course the cheifs are asking for a 2. I told you they are trying to milk us. A deal will be made within now mid June. We will just pay as little as we have to. They cheifs kinda have the upperhand here.

And Im not real stoked about Green. I do think he at least gives our veteran all pros on D a shot to compete right now while our rookie QB gets ready. I think JT and Zach deserve to at least get a playoff chance while we do this face lift. I think its possible with Green. With Daunte there is no chance.

Carr will go somewhere that thinks he can be their guy for 6 or 7 years. That isnt us. I want a rookie stud QB.
