Hi Friends,

I'm dubbing that final fail play from Sunday the "Nonmaculate Rederption!"

I was able to pull two still pics from the coaches film: 1. The exact instant that the ball leaves Ben's hands; and 2. The exact instant the ball contacts Sanders' hands.

Note two things: Ben is slinging the ball around his own player, and he has to reach out to do so. It releases from his hand almost directly on the second hashmark.

Then, note the exact instant the ball contacts Sanders' hands (even before has fully secured it) -- and look at where the ball is: Almost directly on the third hashmark.

I apologize for the poor resolution. But that's the best resolution the NFL GameRewind will allow on snaps. It's incontrovertible evidence, though. No question.

Here you go:

There you have it!

I agree. The NFL announcing it was legal is horrifying. Glad to get the win… Let's move on now.

I think it was legal. I am glad he stepped out. It is not conclusive film.

Sneaked one. Got "sneak" some others.

If we could all watch it in high def it would be conclusive, imo. Doesn't change the outcome, tho.

I'm so glad he stepped out too. On top of all this, play should never have happened(WR not set at snap)
Boy, did luck just go our way on this one.
Karma, I suppose, for Tomlin stepping onto the field vs Baltimore(If I believed in karma that way)

Or ben fumbling in the end zone back in 09 against us, and the ref stating there wasn't enough cameras in the stadium to view a different angle..

Some things that stood out to me after watching the coaches film:

1. The play of Carroll, Jones and Grimes. Solid, man. Carroll was in good position most of the time and just made some great plays. Impressive. And Jones covers a lot of ground, fast. Good investment. And Grimes. Wow. The man is so technically sound and skilled as a CB. Sign him now. Solid secondary w. these three.

2. It was shocking to see the amount of disorganization on the D, on that last play -- the Nonmaculate Rederption. That play never should have had a chance to develop. Wrong personnel on the field and confusion isn't the right word for it -- major clusterjack is more like it.

They didn't bother to try. And quite frankly they - if they were doing their jobs - which they were not they did not need a review. It all occurred in a small space on the field because Wake and Vernon crushed Ben and he was fumbling when Vernon hit him and the ball came out while he was standing when Wake finished him.

The fact that the refs stole that play from us was criminal and set us up to be humiliated by that last play. The refs did their part, the Steelers failed to do theirs so we got lucky.

I think that played was the most upsetting of them all to me..

The Dolphins were saved from a huge loss, and embarrassment on that last play. You cannot let that happen. We were lucky, they would have never overturned that call.

I'm not calling for anyone's head but what worries me is Coyle's attitude saying the play would not have stood upon review even if he didnt step out of bounds. Really? How about you DON'T leave anything to chance and have the right personel and defense on there to stop that ridiculous last ditch effort by the steelers?

I've been staring at those photographs for a minute or two and I still have some doubts.

Meh, who cares? Dolphins outplayed the Steelers and won the game. They tried to get a Stanford Band play and it failed.

Let's talk Patriots.

Hi Friends,

According to the NFL, a pass actually begins when the QB's hand starts the throwing motion, not when the ball leaves his hand - so the mark at where the pass begins should be where the throwing motion begins, which is actually a few feet back from what you see in that picture, proving even more that it was a forward pass. This is much like the rule where if a QB's hand is moving forward when attempting a pass and is simultaneously strip-sacked, its considered an incomplete pass and not a fumble - because the pass began at the QB's throwing motion, not when the ball leaves his hand.

From the NFL rule book:

"When a player is in control of the ball and attempting to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his hand starts a forward pass"

theres NO WAY they would have overturned that. its way too close, plus the steelers were at home, those refs wouldnt have gotten out of there alive if they overturned it.
