Coaches think they struck Gold with Brown !!

You don't strike Gold with a #2?

Tell that to Tim Couch, Tony Mandarich, and an endless # of others.

It already should be gold.

it could be fools gold.

Just because there is a greater chance to strike gold doesn't mean that you can't strike it.

Ronnie is nothing like Marshall when it comes to play style (obvioiusly Ronnie is more speed/power than speed/agility), but if he has the smarts of something even near Faulk..this could be very..very good.

I'm a little disturbed about something in that article.

Schulters beaten by Bell??

How much are we paying him?

Thats the item that caught my attention too.I was hoping we would sign him but he is still behind Bell ? He is probably having a difficult time with the playbook.

I was actually disappointed to hear that Schulters is not in the starting lineup as well. We signed him to a 1 year $665K contract and I feel that the main reason he isn't in the starting lineup now is because he hasn't been here very long and he did not have the whole offseason to learn Saban's very complex defense like Bell has. That's definitely a disadvantage for Lance, but I feel once he begins to feel more comfortable and becomes more familar with the Defensive system, that he will work his way into the starting line up and I feel that he and TeBucky will be our starting safeties. Also, I am of the fact that we don't have a FS or SS position anymore, it's just a Left Safety and a Right Safety. So even though Bell is projected to start opening day against Denver, I think Lance Schulters will eventually be our starting Right Safety (I believe, I might be mixing them up but I don't think so) and that Tebucky Jones will be our starting Left Safety.

I think he is saying that at the #2 pick, the prospect should be an absolute stud so it really isnt striking gold, but getting what you asked for... I think he is sayin striking gold is like getting Brady in the 6th...

Nasty

I hate the comparison to the Eagles drafts over the same era. The writer tries to make it seem way lopsided between the drafts of the Fins and the Eagles. The Eagles got 8 starters and the Fins got 7 (assuming you include Ricky). The Eagles had one great draft in that group (2002), two that sucked (2000, 2001), and two (2003, 2004) that are too early to call.

The writer is ignoring the fact that the Fins had 11 first day picks with only 2 1st round selections in those 5 drafts. The Eagles had 15 1st day picks and 5 1st round picks.

The Pats have clearly done a better job, but other that one draft, the Eagles haven't been impressive.

Thanks for creating a thread not having to do with AJ or GUS!!!!

It was a good thread also. Thanks for the info!
