OK, this is my first post but have been an avid reader of these posts for 5 years now.

By far, the NUMBER 1 reason why we are where we are is because of the abysmal job by coach Saben in hiring Mularkey and also hiring Dom Capers.

Mularkey is the reason why our offense has been sooo inept over the last month. Sure our OL and Duante's inconsistency haven't helped, but a good OC can recognize this and minimize his personnel's weakness.

Look at what Mularkey did with Buffalo the last 2 years:
-The bills had one of the 5 worst statistical offenses two years in a row.
-Eric Moulds career was wasted for these 2 years (look at his numbers before Mularkey came and look at his numbers during MM's tenure).
-JP Losman, Drew Bledsoe, Kelly Holcomb all failed miserably under his system.

Now that Mularkey is gone, look at Buffalo's offense now. They have a legitimate running game and JP Losman is finally looking like an NFL caliber QB.

Folks, this man is handicapping Duante's biggest strength which is throwing the long ball (you don't need a pro-bowl offensive line to protect your QB for 3 seconds to allow him to air it out) and instead throwing vanilla dump-offs to R. Brown for 2 yard gains. How many times has Duante thrown a long ball to Chambers this season?

Unless we boot Mularkey, our team and our offense will continue to be the laughing stock of the league.

Also, imagine how our defense would be if we hired Eric Mangini as our D-coordinator instead of D. Capers. Mangini single handedly has turned around the Jets franchise who have less talented personnel on both offense and defense in comparison to our phins. Again, coaching makes the biggest difference.

Saben failed miserably this offseason in hiring the wrong coaching personnel. We need some young blood on the coaching staff and not perennial losers. With that being said, this seasons outcome ultimately falls on Saben.

Mangini was not even available at the time. I will admit Mangini is a good coach but honestly he's not Lombardi. Give Saban a chance before you proclaim him the scapegoat of our crappy season. By the way it's not D.Capers schemes it's the lack of execution of the schemes. When Capers calls the Blitz the linebackers don't get through and the D-line dosen't hold up the O-line to let them get through.

I think this whole season should fall on Saban. He is the one that picked Culpepper instead of Breez or Mcnair. He is the one that hired Mularkey. AFter watching the past two years with this coach it is clear he is no god. It will only be a matter of time before this guy is back in college coaching.

Seeing his PC, one thing is absolutely certain. Under no circumstance, no matter what the case, is Saban ever going to throw a member of his staff under the bus.
Not only does he assume all responsibility for their actions, as he rightfully should anyway, but the simple fact he's cut them off from all media access, is as good as taking an oath to which he solumnly swears, will never give rise to a situation, where they would wish, or need to speak with the media directly, to either explain, or defend their actions, due to somthing Saban said.
That said, I think he was truthful, and forthcoming to acknowledge that the coaching of the offensive players, has to improve.
He just made sure to note, it started with him as ultimately responsible for it.

At least thats how I was left to interpret it.

well said..

In England this is definately the type of season that would be being thrown at Saban so far, I like Saban a lot, but questions have to be asked, and having a New England fan for a brother, things need to improve fast!

There's a reason why Buffalo and Houstan fired these two knuckleheads. Buffalo had one of the worst offenses in recent times with this fool as their head coach (it is at least understandble if Buffalo had a defensive minded HC, but Mularkey was brought in solely for his offensive system).
Houstan had the worst D last year (How could that be with Capers being a 3-4 genious and having been the HC for 3 years with the team. Shouldn't he have picked the right personnel for his D by the third year. Inexplicable.)

I knew the season would be in trouble the minute Saben hired these two clowns.

i agree 100%.i dont post much either, but i have been saying this all along.i've been a fan for 35 years sense i was 10. the good and bad have come and gone.but it's never been so hard to watch these last games.and with are off cord i dont see it getting any better soon.but i guess it cant get any worse from here.who knows maybe we will go no huddle the whole game.i said last week ronnie woudnt break out,and he didnt and wont for a while.no running game can run on 8 in the box blitzing.and its going to keep happening for a long time.it's just so hard be this early in the season, and be at such a loss for what to do.i dont have that many years left lol.

Brees and McNair would be on the IR starting behind our O-line.

i agree with you 100% my friend.

hard to argue with this thread at this point in our season...plain and simple things are not working smoothly on either side of the ball. improvement can be made and i hope things come together this week in n. england. but the recent history of both of these coaches, mularkey as far back as pittsburg, when he left they won the superbowl with prettymuch the same personel, can not be ignored. it was not good and right now things are not good with them here, cut and dry

I agree that Mularkey has been a big problem. I think our defense has played fine. Culpepper has played very poorly and is another big part of the problem. They need to replace Mularkey and Culpepper in my opinion.
