If you take a look at Philbin, Coyle, and Lazor's coaching history, you will see that they all have 1 thing in common. They do not have ANY prior experience at the NFL level at their respective positions.

When looking at Philbin's, he had the "title" of offensive coordinator in Green Bay. However we all know he did not call the plays in G.B. He was McCarthy's assistant for all intensive purposes. Prior to his Packer days, he was merely an Offensive Line coach. Same history as Tony Sparano had prior to him getting the Head Coaching job here.

As far as Kevin Coyle goes. He had some experience as a Defensive Coordinator at the college level, never in the NFL level prior to him getting the Dolphins D.C. job.

Bill Lazor was mostly a QB coach in college, as well as his prior NFL jobs before getting the Offensive Coordinator job in Miami.

The common factor with all 3 coaches is, none of them had any prior experience at the NFL level at the positions they were hired for with the Dolphins. And when you put 3 coaches together that your are putting in charge of running a team, that have a combined ZERO prior job experience at the NFL level with the jobs they were hired for. Well, the combination of that is not going to turn out very good.

Philbin is a timid, soft, mild mannered guy. More of an office guy then an NFL coach. He has systematically surrounded himself with the similar type of personalities. Coyle is the same as Philbin, soft, timid, and GUTLESS. This defense has regressed in each of the past 4 seasons under Coyle. Philbin did not have the guts to fire Sherman, he had to be forced to. Philbin did not have the guts to fire Coyle after last years collapse. When any real Head Coach would of fired him the day after the season ended.

The current state of the Miami Dolphins, have taken on Philbin's personality. This team is soft, timid, gutless, uninspired, unprepared. We are now getting bullied in all phases of the game. And this team takes it, and does not punch back. Philbin is not a teacher, he never is seen teaching/coaching up anybody on the sidelines. Never is Philbin seen correcting a player for a mistake. He roams the sidelines with his head set on, and does absolutely nothing, except have a conversation with a referee every now and then.

If you look at the players today, you can see that they just do not seem to care what an embarrassment just took place today. They just stroll to the sidelines, and sit on the bench, keep their mouth shut, and collect a pay check. That will never work in the NFL. The NFL is a alpha male dominated sport. Philbin has no business being a head coach, he truly belongs back being an assistant for someone like a Mike McCarthy. And at that type of job, Joe can be Joe, without costing the team on a daily basis.

Philbin is done as a head coach, and he knows it and this team knows it. They did not show up to play today, as usual. Philbin has a problem with alpha personalities. He has removed any type of hard nosed personalities from this team. He prefers finesse guys who will just show up and collect a paycheck. It is clear Joe Philbin is just an average mild mannered guy who probably means well, but just has no business being an NFL head coach. It is not in him, he is not cut out for it.

We also have a problem with our owner. Nobody of value wants to work for Ross. He has been turned down numerous times by the big name coaches. Hopefully that changes with the next coaching hire. This franchise can not afford another "Miss" with the next head coach.

With that being said, Joe Philbin's days as head coach are numbered. It is not if he will be fired, it is just a matter of when Ross decides to pull the trigger on it. This team will not rebound from this, Philbin has lost this team. The players want to win, and they know Joe is not the coach that can get the job done.

I wish Joe Philbin well in his future. He seems like a good guy personally. He is just not cut out to be an NFL head coach. My guess is he will either retire from coaching, or go back to being someones personal assistant. He will most likely never be an NFL head coach again.

All three of them are garbage

Not only is it lack of experience in their current positions, but it's lack of any significant success in their previous roles. Some kind of hopeful madness came over us all to believe some dudes in their 50s who never accomplished anything would suddenly turn it all around.

From what I've seen, I think that Joe would be a good friend or neighbor.... seems like a really nice guy. But, he's no NFL Head Coach, and Ross didn't recognize this. After his son's death, maybe Joe felt that a new job in a new city would be the best thing for his family. That's fine. I'll bet that Joe knew it was going to be tough, so he brought in his old friend Mike Sherman to help. That didn't work out so well. I think that Joe was in way over his head, and was too proud (or stubborn) to admit it. If he couldn't handle the job, he should have just said so and walked away for the sake of the team and their future. There's no shame in admitting that you just can't do the job. The problem was that he just stood at the helm and watched as the team got worse every year. Ross must have known (along with the rest of us) that the team was not headed in the right direction and made a change. But, Ross is no different than Philbin. He wouldn't admit that he was wrong, so we still have Philbin in charge. And, yet again, I have to hope that we'll get a real coaching staff for next season.
