I'm sure that I'll get lambasted for this and really, I can't believe that I'm writing this, but I think that Nick Saban has really done a poor job with this team. They continue to be too conserative and make the same stupid penalties and mistakes. Trying to be objective...so far this season, I've seen very little difference b/w this year's squad and those under Wannstedt. And, I hated Wannstedt.

This team is a disaster both physically and mentally. I really thought that Saban was the answer but after this horrid start I've accepted the fact Saban is not the savior I was hoping that he was. This game was there for the taking but it just seemed that instead of making a dynamic play to take the control, the coaches were content to just keep it close. Say what you will about last year's team, but at least they threw the ball down the field and at least attempted to make some big plays.

This team just can't get it done when it matters and the problem starts with the coaching staff. The coaches are hestitant, uncertain and lack agressiveness...is there any wonder the players play the same way?

Teams that are rebuilding often have these problems.

The problem with this team is the inability to finish games strong.

I don't think anything you said there is unfair. This team makes the same mistakes week in and week out. Saban is buying many of the groceries but the meal still sucks.

Thanks. I'm very disappointed by the lack of agressiveness. I'm glad others see the same thing I do.

I really think Saban should have challenged the Chambers catch. For starters the offense has zero confidence and it looked like Chris made the catch but by not making the challenge when his offense told him to because they felt he made the catch Saban chose not to and too a lot of air out of this offense. They got no breaks and Saban didn't even try to help them get one.

The oline seemed to play a lot better today but still couldn't open up any running lanes. Both teams struggled today but atleast the passing game had some time to make things happen. McMichael was a beast today and played hurt and did it well.

I agree...Saban needed to challenge that play. I was at a bar in S. NJ watching the game and could not hear the TV when Saban chose not to challenge Chamber's catch on the sideline. However, the entire bar...mostly Eagles fans...thought that it was a catch and ripped Saban for not throwing the flag.

Its the execution Im really disappointed in. We have the talent.. but they're playing like Garbage. And for Booker to get injured on a nice grab.. but only to have it nullified... is sick.

The coaching staff is way too conservative. They dont go down field with the passing game. If you dont take some shots deep down the field, your never going to loosen up the defense. If they would go down the field every now and then, it could open up some holes in the front for Ronnie. Other teams know Miami cant get the ball down field, that why they stack up against our run. Miami has no downfield threats other than Chambers.

The coaching staff needs to open it up more, and stop playing so conservative.

Systems are a huge factor in winning championships in my opinion, look at NE over the past few years, and Denver of the late 90's. They both had awesome systems in place, and a great coaching staff all around the board.

Saban and company need to open things up, and stop playing so predictable.

Booker's play was typical. Great throw and catch, setting up a certain TD. Instead, there is a holding penalty and no points. It continues to happen week after week. They continue to kill themselves.

I agree with you 100 %. Saban is a total joke. Everyone laughed at Wanny but I enjoyed the 10 and 11 wins he brought each year with a poor QB. This is embarrassing and poor. Saban stands there and can't even decide if he is going to throw the flag or not. He claps when Mare misses another one and gets pissed too late after his guy (Allen) gets beat again with the flag.

He has no respect and does not deserve any from his players. :tantrum:

Sad very very sad.

Exactly. Could not agree more. We see it, why can't the coaching staff?

Do we have the speed at receiver to go downfield.. I figure we arent because the coverage is good. We've lacked a speed receiver for a while now.. which is why i was disappointed when we didnt cultivate Gibson.
Welker is emerging as our #1 receiver.. ala Wayne Crebet.

The point is...the QBs don't throw it down the field so we have no idea if we can make some big plays.

Here is my theory on throwing deep. 4 things can happen...

1. Long completion...big play.
2. Incompletion...at worse, a loss of a down but it stretches the opposing D so they can't just defend a 10 yard box like they can now.
3. Long Pass Int. call. Big play and it happens against our D every game.
4. Int.

A long completion or pass int. call are game changing plays. Good things happen when you are aggressive down the field. Its too hard to nickel and dime your way down the field on every possession. You need to make some big plays to score. We had decent protection today and still took no shots down the field.

It is so frustrating.

Its long been said that penalties are a direct reflection of coaching. Saban has failed miserably in this category. Now the question is....if Saban can't seem to be able to get his players to listen to him about commiting penalties, why should we believe that he can get their attention in any other aspect of the game.
Jury is still out, but its now obvious that Saban isnt God and he isnt Superman.
Im just wondering if he's even a coach.
