Colledge is a 32 year old vet who seldom misses snaps, let alone games. He was the best of what was left available, and is average, not good or bad. That's looking petty good on this OL.

It's also not far fetched that Dallas can be average as well. James is anyone's guess but could be the same which would be good for his first year. Have to feel bit sorry for Shelly. Not sure if he will be playing LG or RG and ends up a center. Doubt he will be average there but, if and when Pouncey comes back, we could be average. Not a bad thing.

Can we make the playoffs with an average O-Line or stop that Buffalo Bills PASS RUSH???

Watching Jeff Saturday on ESPN, who knows a bit on the OL. He explained that a RB needs to click with the OL, same as a WR needs to click with a QB, as he needs to know where they are going and what they are going to do. Makes sense, and is likely gonna be a problem this year.

Unfortunately, I doubt we are average when it's all said and done. Albert is. Huge upgrade from last year, and honestly, that's the most important thing.

Before we added Colledge, we looked awful at our OG's. But with Colledge at LG and eventually Pouncey at C, Tannehill should have. Pretty solid backside. James will take his lumps--especially early. Hopefully he improves as the year goes on and gives us what Clabo gave us after he returned from his benching.

That leaves one really porous spot, RG. If there is one spot along an OL where you are going to be weak, most coaches would choose RG. It's not an OT or C or blindside LG. The QB can see his man coming through, and the RB's usually pass by the QB on that side more often than not so are 8n a good position to pick it up.

So, the chance that we are decent definitely exists.

But, Albert has a history of injuries and is getting older. Colledge is already old and nearing he end of his career. Colledge also has been average while healthy lately, and he is clearly our best OG.

Pouncey is out, and our poor pass protecting RG is being forced to anchor, snap, and make line calls while working hard to improve his pass pro to mediocrity. Dallas Thomas may start. Full stop. He is tragically bad.

Our backup OG is another rookie with lots of potential but lacking in technique. He is raw and going to be schooled a lot if forced to play this year.

Once again we have a new starting RT. He is a rookie and considered by many draft analysts as a reach who will be over matched this year. Hopefully he learns quickly, but our right side looks very porous at the moment.

IMHO, we should have traded up for Taylor Lewan and added another veteran to play RG until Smith/Turner developed. But we didn't. I think we will be better at the end of the season than at the beginning ... but we are going to take some serious lumps early.

I think the fast release passing of this offense will help a lot and at least lessen the OL issues. Hopefully they are taught to put people on their asses if they jump!

Well considering that the first game we were only a play or two away from securing the win until Clabo turned completely transparent then an average line might do it.

Colledge is a poor man's version of what was available early in FA but. a solid player for this year. He put together 6 good games last year vs NO, TB, Car, SF, Sea, and Atlanta, fell off some in the second half but, only one bad game vs Philly. He should also be a help to whoever is at center without Pouncey.

Moving on to center. Shelly is really struggling, and we have a hell of a dilemma, with Brenner's injury maybe adding to it. IF Pouncey is only going to miss a few games, Garner can hold the fort, with maybe Brenner and the rookie. This strengthens the OG's in adding Shelly to the mix but, weakens paper thin depth with not having Garner to fill in.

IF Pouncey is going to be out for an extended period, Garner is not a good answer. We likely have to add someone with no one worth signing available, and I include Samson. We could wait for cuts but, Aug 27 is down to 75 and Aug 31 is final cuts to 53. That gives us about a week to fit in a new center.

Add in that the center is responsible for making OL calls. Tannehill can help but, with a new O, he has more than enough on his plate. Have to wonder if we may have to look into a trade.
