Ah, typical ACC basketball fan. The Big East is ALWAYS overrated to ACC fans.
This has nothing to do w/ the BE being bad like it is, it has everything to do w/ a poor resume that doesnt' deserve inclusion into the NCAAs.
yes, the BE is usually overrated- 11 teams made last year and 9 didn't make it out of the first weekend. That screams overrated, wouldn't you agree?

especially when they beat them come ncca touney time. didnt uconn beat puke in 2 final fours? one time for the nat title lol

thats not the big easts fault that acc is so weak and they cant more then a dozen teams in the ncca tourney every yr

2009: UNC 83 Villanova 69
2010: duke 78 WVU 57
The ACC doesn't have 57 teams to beat up on a weak bottom half to get a million teams in.
The BE's first season was 1980, since 1980:

BE: 1980, 1981, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008
ACC: 1980, 1985, 1987, 1996, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2011

Sure ya do: There called, Clemson, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, NC ST. Please don't tell me those teams aren't usual cellar dwellers in your conference each year.
How many of those FFs are from Duke and UNC? How many from the rest of the conference? The ACC has ALWAYS been top heavy and it always will be. BC, GTech, Wake, and VT aren't teams to hang your hat on when you point fingers at the Big East's bottom half.

all of those schools have had success in the last 20 years w/ the exception of VT. The ACC has fallen back since expansion but they don't half 9-10 bad teams every year to fatten up on like the BE.
1980-current:
The ACC has had btw 8-12. 1980-1991 8 teams, 1992-2004 9 teams, 2004-cuurent 12 teams
The BE had 9 members from 1982-1990, 1990-1994 13 teams, 1995-2004 14 teams, 2005-current 16 teams
# of different FF teams:
ACC: UNC, duke, Maryland, Ga Tech, NC State, Virginia
BE: GU, SJU, 'Nova, Providence, SH, SU, UConn, WVU
2 more for the BE but again they have had many more teams
Nat'l Titles in that timeframe;
ACC: UNC, duke, NC State, Maryland
BE: GU, 'Nova, SU, UConn
same # despite BE having many more teams
The ACC has a weak bottom as well but it's uually 3-4 bad teams while the BE is usually 8-10 bad teams. That's a huge difference.
8-10 bad teams in the BE? Again that more whining from an ACC fan.
Big East perenially bad teams:
DePaul
Providence
Rutgers
South Florida
Maybe you can put Seton Hall in here too, but they have been a decent team some years.
The Big East has national powers: UConn, Syracuse, Louisville, Pittsburgh
Solid programs: Villanova, ND, Marquette, WV, Gtown
Decent/Up 'n Down programs: Cincy, St Johns, Seton Hall
Awful programs: mentioned above
Now this year a few of the usual powers are down a bit: Pitt, UConn, Villanova and Louisville
However South Florida is much better than they have been in the past and Seton Hall is trending upwards
The ACC has Duke and UNC. This year they can claim a decent FSU squad. That's about it. All the other teams range from wafflingly mediocre (UVA, NCState) to down right awful (BC). It's been that way for the ACC for a long time. In a couple of ears when Syracuse and Pitt join the ACC, you can make an argument and probably even win. But until that time, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
The bad teams on a consistent basis have been:
St. John's, Seton hall, USF, Rutgers, Depaul, providence
That's a lot to start w/
Louisville hasn't been a Nat'l power since the 80s, only UConn is a Nat'l power on par w/ UNC & duke.
Pitt a Nat'l power? wake me up when they make a FF, SU as "great" as they have been ahve only made 3 FFs under Boeheim. UL has made one since 1987
'Nova and GU would be in the solid program category w/ SU & UL
decent up/down would be Cincy, Marquette, WVU, ND
The best BE team struggled w/ NC State this year just so you know, it was a 3 pt game w/ about 10 mins left.
3rd place ND lost to Maryland
The ACC is about UNC and duke, they are 2 of the best 4 programs int he Country annually bu there have been other great runs in the conference including last decade w/ MD making back to abck title games, winning a title and Ga Tech playing for a title.
No matter what way you judge the ACC has been far superior to the BE.

lol md hasn't done crap since they won the title and gt was bombed in the finals by uconn lol just make it stop
since MD won it all in 2002 they have:
made 5 Tourneys- the same as GU & ND, more than SH, RU, USF, Depaul, SJU, Cincy, Providence,
who cares if GT was bombed in the finals? 'Nova was crushed by UNC in the FF and WVU was crushed by duke in 2 of the last 3 FFs

Wow. Cards put it together, make a run, and win the BE title. I wonder if that has moved them up to a 3 line.
Enjoyed watching the Kitties go down in the SEC final today. I'm thinking the Gators are in about 5 seed territory. Let's get this OSU-MSU game over with and see that damn bracket!
