I saw him play in the NM Bowl yesterday, and he looked good. He was explosive, broke tackles well, was a receiving threat...and he's listed at 6'0", 227 lbs.

I'm not starting a "DRAFT GARTRELL JOHNSON" thread or anything like that. We're pretty set at RB and I've only ever seen him play one game. I'm just wondering if anyone knows more about him and can give any sort of analysis. I'm thinking he may be worth a late-round pick in my keeper league.

I'm not gonna lie, I knew nothing about him before that game, but I sure liked what I saw. Might not be a bad idea to take a late round flyer on him, assuming he lasts that long of course.

I think they said he is from the Miami area...but racking up a ton of yards on Fresno State is like hitting five home runs in a beer league game...I wouldn't put too much into it.

Gartrell is from S Fla and did well against BYU too. But, lighting up BYU's run D isn't exactly newsworthy.

I can see Gartrell as a nice #2 back kind of like Jackson who backs up Lynch in Beefalo.

yeah that kid made some money in that game, he was probably a 7th round pick, and moved up to a 4th or 5th...

i'd hate to use another draft pick on a RB, especially since we should have the same RB's on our roster next year... no replacement for cobbs is needed...
i think once we figure out some Oline depth we wont need 10 oliner's and maybe can ride with 4 RB's, after next season we need a replacement for ricky... but not now... they'll just get takin off our practice squad again

the bowl games are where people make their money. Chris Johnson doesn't move as high as he does without his bowl game last yerar (his combine was nice, but others have had big games and gone undrafted), just as Colt Brennan would have gone a lot higher had Hawaii not got smacked by Georgia.

This is the first time a lot of these guys are getting to show off their stuff to the nation.
