I want all of you to watch this video, and then read the analysis, then watch it again. This is why we love our offensive mastermind Sean Payton:

I just rewatched the game highlights and I wanted to discuss the absolute genius of this particular TD throw.

First, the play-action fake to Reggie Bush. Say what you want but when Brees play-actioned the ball to Bush and Bush began in run as if he had the ball in earnest, 4 defenders keyed on him. Which brings me to this.

Colston engaged the DB in a block as if it was a running play and the DB began to try to shed the block and play the run which allowed Colston to stroll into the endzone WIDE OPEN for one of the easiest TD's that he will ever have in his career.

Finally, Brees acted the part as if it was indeed a run with a very believable play action fake to Bush but the throw was perfect to Colston.

Vaunted Giants DE Osi said that the Saints ran when we guessed pass and passed when we guessed run, keeping them off-balance ALL DAY.

This is a tribute to Coach Payton and All of the players on Offense and to the fact that the running game was gashing the Giants to death so they HAD to honor the run.

BTW, the TD pass to Lance Moore was IDENTICAL to everything described above.

Watch it again.

Nice he faked a run and the defense fell for it and he threw a 10 yard td..

:insertcookiepichere:

It looks like the Giants defense started to get desperate, and that they did not maintain good discipline. It is a fantastic play call, and the execution was good. The play worked because the corner did not do his job.

Not to mention Colston man-handled the corner at the line. Looks like he thought he'd have more help over the top. Things started rolling downhill for the Giants. Can happen to any team, including the Saints. Would be very optimistic to think Saints will be that sharp two weeks in a row, especially on the road. Game will probably be a slugfest.

yeah, thats what I call a block and shove off move to get open. Now if I am a CB playing up on the rec., I would lock on him and not let go in that case. Within 5 yds and you thought it was a run.

man, that just looked way too easy.. Yes, that will be the easiest TD catch Colston will EVER have.

I'm mad at Colston for sucking last season. I had him on my Fantasy team - someone was dumb enough to cut him after he was injured - and he let me down week after week.

Seriously, though, S. Smith should follow Colston wherever he goes. The Saints are going to be very difficult.

bad corner play. But yes we are going to have trouble with the play action. But I think if we can stop the run early and run the ball well we can control the game and get after Brees, and not fall for the play action...I hope.

Sounds like someone was even more dumb to pick him up after he was injured.. ;)

Thats ok, I did the same thing.. I still won 3rd place in my fantasy though and didnt lose anything.. no harm done I guess.

It seems to me the Saints are play action happy....

I don't think it will work well vs. Miami. We don't really need to worry about the run. It's the pass we have trouble with.

In large part due to the Dolphins NOT getting enough pressure on the QB. Every split-second longer the opposing QB has to stand in the pocket is a split-second longer the secondary must to cover opposing receivers.

It would be REALLY nice if JT would have one of those games like he used to have 3-5 years ago.

I'm glad you guys are at least fans of the game of football enough to be as happy as me at seeing this kind of play. I love watching our offense :) And I actually very much like watching the Dolphins. They are interesting, the wild cat is always fun to watch on prime time :)

Lol @ the last thing said in the video..."im not sure what Dockery was doing"

That's what the Bills and Jets thought. We're #4 in rush ypg in the league right now.

This will probably sounds ****y, and I guess it kind of is, but if the saints play like they have all season, it will take a perfect defensive game to beat them. You basically have to stop the run with your front 4 and still manage to get pressure with them as well.

We have more receiving threats than we can put on the field at one time, as well. You have to respect everyone.

I think the best plan of attack is to use that phenomenal running game you guys have and get Henne involved off the PA. If your D can make a couple of big stops early and the O can capitalize with a couple of quick scores and get an early lead, maybe even eat up some clock, Payton has a history of abandoning the run. That's when Brees had made mistakes, in previous seasons at least.

The Saints haven't trailed at all this season, so it will be interesting to see how they respond when they're in a real contest.
