If I remember correctly, it was Boomer who mentioned that Brennan was down to 185lbs. due to a flu.

Yeah Brennan normally weighs around 200, but he had a virus right before they played Georgia.....Brennan played really lousy in this game and his stock dropped a lot, but you did not hear him making a lot of excuses. I hope he finds a place with some team.

I would like for him to land on a team and be successful.

Why is it that everytime a spread offense qb puts up big numbers in college everyone seems to think that it's going to translate into something big in the pro's? I like Colt Brennan as much as anyone but to think he's going to be a good pro is a bit of a reach. Andre Ware or David Klingler anyone. He was exposed in the Georgia game and his play at the East West Shrine game as well as the combine today were less than spectacular. Lets' stop talking about spread offense qb's. The only spread offense qb that was successful was Warren Moon and he wasn't a spread offense qb at Washington and only became one when he moved to Edmonton and then at Houston.

yea i would like him to be here if he can get his arm strength i could see us getting him in the 6th, 7th, or even Undrafted but i here he had a pretty good day at the combine

Run And Shoot Yourself Out Of The NFL!

Can you say........ David Klingler???

I've been saying this in regards to Brennan for a long time. This is not a knock on him as a college football player, but I just don't see his numbers translating to NFL success. It's POSSIBLE that he could eventually develop into a decent QB at the next level, but it's not really likely. I think that's one of the reasons NFL teams seem to be shying away from him.

On a different note, this is why I like Brohm. He may not be looked upon as having a great arm, but there are a lot of QBs in the NFL that succeed that don't have Marino/Favre type arms. Brohm has played and excelled in a pro style system and can make all the throws required of him and he's done it against higher quality opponents than Brennan has. I'm not suggesting we draft Brohm number one, but I'd take him if he happened to fall to our second pick. (Unlikely)

thats gotta be a crazy flu.... i dont think he's gonna be a great QB anywyas.

i agree with Brohm, keep an eye on him later rounds. how is his health though? and yes he doesnt have the greatest of arms. smart QB though, but he also had a lot of WR and TE talent around him to make plays.

hey SCALL13... those pics of your kids palying football? cool set-up, reminded me how fun it was watching my guy playing this year.

from a reliable source ive heard brennan is a serious stoner..... just something to consider with the history of our team

I have reliable sources to ;], i've heard Tom Brady is straight.

What about Brennan in the 6th. I call it MEDIA BIAS but he is now rated # 16 I know some people will be HAPPY to hear that but is it fair # 16? And if he is really rated that low, can we trust the scouts?

Just the same to those people who say he is stoned, how can you be that accurate consistently and be stoned.

Nobody has a better accuracy rate than Colt, and he proved that again at the ASU QB Skills Competition.

Colt has a natural instinct in passing.

In High School at Mater Dei (sp) he completed over 68% of his passes. I’d like to check how Matt Leinart did.

At Saddleback College he also completed over 68%

In his career at Hawaii it is over 70%.

Didn’t scouts say that this is the most important trait in a QB?

He was 2nd in scrambling and mobility.

Weak Arm? He was tied for 4th with John Booty, 2 yds behind Matt Ryan.

Yards Per Attempt...with everyone KNOWING Hawaii was going to pass, He was 8.96,
plus 70%+ in accuracy..

??? How did he do that with everyone STARING at him, KNOWING his next move????

And don't tell me weak competition...USC, Arizona St, Alabama, Washington, Boise St., Oregon St., Purdue, Mich. St. Wisconsin, and Georgia. He may have lost some of these games, and ONLY 1 bad game...being the Georgia game...add all those stats together and it is an AWESOME stat. It still would be better than Brian’s, Chad or Ryan’s.

While I don't want to make excuses for Colt,
1) It was the Hawaii coaches who were exposed in the game. They came in thinking they could do the same things they did throughout the season and Georgia would just roll over. They did no adjustments for the ENTIRE game. This was reported in the week after the game, sorry, no links.
2) The week and days leading up to the EW game, he was so violently ill that he had no chance... and it showed during the game where he reverted exclusively to his sidearm style to gain more "umph" into his throws.
3) I did not see the combine results yet...

seems like you LOVE this kid... want him as a phin???

i just wanted to comment on the arm strength. the important aspect of arm strength is zip on the ball with a quick release (not overall distance when heaving it downfield). brennan doesnt have great arm strength on him. plus distance, Ryan defiitely doesn't and being behind him doesnt say much. but overall zip, fitting in tight spaces in the NFL which is a faster paced secondary he'll be facing, will be tougher for him.

but... he had a very good combine, from what i watched, throwing the ball. seemed accurate and poised. i jsut wonder about his head, attitude, and leadership abilities.
