All of this makes perfect sense. The problem is that Jim Irsay doesn't always make perfect sense.

I'm leaning towards the Irsay jerking scenario. He's going to go back to Taylor and say we tried to make a trade, now get your ass on the field. Nothing worse than a meddling owner.

I like our running back room today, just don't think I'll be liking them come December, if we can get Taylor for a 2 and a 6 let's go. I agree that Grier has gone about his pursuit of these various vet backs in a tempered wise manner and not just caving to demands.

Once he's completely fulfilled his current contractual obligation for the agreed upon compensation.... then yes he should.

Unless the NFLPA agrees to somehow allow players to buy themselves out of current deals at personal cost, you play out the deal and then cash in..... I'm a hockey guy... once the deal is signed only way out is retirement or a buyout.

It's weird. I know that there are Twitter folks who legit have inside information. I have no idea if that duo is legit or not, but weirder things have happened. Sarney's broken a couple news stories over the past year; I know for a fact that he has sources...but he took all sorts of abuse for years from people who insisted he was just making stuff up.

They should just force the league to eliminate the 5th year option for first round picks, in the next CBA negotiations. Along with eliminating the franchise tag.

I could certainly be wrong on our approach to Wilkins but doubt we are trading him, think we are waiting to finalize his contract after the dust settles on the rest of our roster construction given he will be such a big piece of things. Do we get Taylor, do we not, any other surprises? Once settled we will be in a better position to nail down Wilkins one way or the other, a new contract or playing out this year on his rook deal with plans to possibly franchise tag him next.
