I can't imagine they are thinking we are desperate, we low balled Cook who wanted to be here and never looked back. We sniffed other backs and never paid up. We have a good stable, no way they can think we're desperate and in fact, I think they have a huge problem on their hands as JT isn't happy.

That’s what I’m thinking.

It’s on our terms or we walk.

We signed or drafted 6 RBs this’d off season. The desperation isn’t there for Miami.

I wouldn't on the surface but would need to figure out the numbers of our first and their third. First take is no way as Ogbah has value. I don't think our first and a player will ever be in play
 
Miami as been linked to just about every star RB this offseason. It's like they are chasing after all the pretty girls and striking out. Why bother? Seems desperate. And might alienate the players on the team?

I'm not sure if that's the case? If Taylor willingly sits, he hasn't accrued the 4 seasons required to become an UFA. The Colts could slap an RFA Tag on Taylor which would be worse for him, if they wanted to play dirty. Lower money tag and forces a team to trade a 1st for him if they want him. I'm an idiot so I could be wrong, but I believe that's how the UFA vs RFA works...

I believe if they were to IR him this year he would be a restricted free agent and able to sign a contingent contract with a new team but the Colts would have the right to match it. If they were to do a first round tag, ridiculous, not ideal for the Colts at all.

The fact they even agreed to trade him simply shows they understand he no longer wants to play for them. So in that respect Taylor has some power to force a possible trade.

Yet he is still under contract to the Colts and even if he wants to play for the Dolphins, the Colts are going to do what is best for them if they do trade him. So when it comes to trading him to the team that offers them the best deal for Taylor, the Colts hold all the power.

Taylor can obviously decide to sit out the year and not get paid. I doubt the Colts would put him on IR because that would mean he would be paid the entire season for not playing.

I agree with you that this is the year they can get the greatest trade value for him. That is also why I think him coming to the Dolphins is less certain. Because the Colts need to get as much value for him while they can and I’m not sure the Dolphins are the team that can offer them the best deal for Taylor. I guess we just have to wait and see how this plays out.
