Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

It may not happen. Most NFL trade attempts fail. I'm personally on the fence as to whether or not I'd want it to happen. But I do think it's clear are trying to get Taylor. Those reports being questioned by some are accurate. Those pretending we're not actively trying to upgrade the RB room are in denial.

Irsay may be dick enough to reject anything and keep him on the PUP list as a big ol' FU
 
There is no question about Johnathan Taylor's talent and what he'd bring to Miami. Unfortunately as devalued as the RB position seems to be, the Colts appearently think otherwise. They seem like they'll take this into the season, bluffing Johnathan Taylor himself. He'll be back to gain his eligibility for the season, then they'll franchise him, in the offseason. In short he loses, because he isn't traded, or getting his desired contract. Either way the Colts are in the driver's seat. Especially with a hard nosed owner like Irsay, calling the shots.

Unless Grier blinks, this deal isn't getting done. Say what you want about Irsay, the guy just isn't going to budge.

At some point, Taylor may decide to walk away, and then neither Irsay or Taylor get anything.
If Taylor is smart, his ankle will act up, and that'll force Indy to put him on the PUP... that'll give Taylor 4 more paychecks.

How so?

They are the ones not offering Taylor a contract. Their whole position makes no sense. Don't give a leading rusher a second contract but put him on the market for a first round pick. Which is it, is he valuable or not?

That's because Irsay gonna Irsay. He's a hard nosed stubborn owner. He's dug in and doesn't give a Hoot about Taylor's demands or Miami's offers. Now if Grier caves in and gives Indy a first, then I think Irsay budges.

FWIW, Taylor hasn't been faking an injury in Indianapolis at this point...Indy has been faking him being injured and carrying him on IR. Taylor has indicated he isn't injured despite Indy listing him that way.

Indy's MO has been that they won't renegotiate deals and that they'd rather suck and get good picks than try to piece together a team. What sucks is that it has worked for them twice in getting Manning and then Luck....well, it kind of worked with Luck.

They did sign Rivers, Wentz and Ryan in succession.
 
God I hate Grier still being the GM but if he pulls this one off I will STFU forever about him.
