Can't see us giving up a 1, there is a chance, and poss a very good chance, that our 1 will be pretty high if Tua goes down. I would in no way shape or form want to risk that for a rb.

When was the last time the addition of a an expensive RB put a team over the top for a Super Bowl?
The last time a SB Champ even had a real alpha RB was Seattle in 2014 with Lynch, before that you have to go to the year 2000 and The Rams with Faulk(maybe Corey Dillon in NE counts here too).
Why do so many obsess about f'ing RB's?
Just play fantasy.
I really don’t believe Irsay wants to trade Taylor and only gave Taylor permission to find a trade partner because he will only trade him if he can get what he wants in compensation. It appears he wants a least a first round pick and no team seems to want to give him what he wants.
While I agree that I wouldn’t give up two second round picks for Taylor. I can understand the CBS position that 2 second round picks would likely be enough to get the trade done. Especially if the Colts aren’t receiving a first round selection offer for Taylor.
If the Dolphins do have the best offer on the table as has been reported. It appears obvious that no other team is offering the Colts 2 second round picks for Taylor at this time.
I mean it makes a valid point. Some fantastic QB play is another common denominator. Not inclusive but pretty close.
I for one think 2 seconds is too rich

I don't like paying a 2nd rounder for him and I don't like paying him either.
I would be very cautious using a 2nd round pick on a RB in the Draft let alone using it to trade for an older, more expensive RB.
But Taylor is arguably the best pure runner in the league and he would give the offense another weapon so I could live with a 2024 2nd rounder for him.
They would have been better off just paying Cook.

The thing about this system is that it churns out good RB performance. But it all depends on the OL getting the right blocks.
I never would have guessed that the 49ers would invest so much in a RB. I think MM saw what it did for them, and realized it may be worth it.
Very few backs make their line look better than they are. Ricky instantly transformed our line into one that looked competent. The line didn’t get better. Ricky created an illusion based on his ability.
I haven’t watched enough of JT to know if he makes his line better. The only way I send a second for him is if I have conviction that he does. MM was a run coordinator. I will trust his evaluation.
Last thing: a lot of people are worried about a coming cap catastrophe. Don’t worry. It’s all smoke and mirrors. Two years ago we were told the Saints were like $60m over the cap and would have to tear it all apart. They didn’t. They restructured contracts and kept signing new players. It’s not our money. Don’t get anxiety about it.

I don't think using other teams as example fits our situation though.
The Eagles were able to run the ball all season until the Super Bowl. Surely Taylor would've put them over the top instead of the 21 yards they got from Kenneth Gainwell.
Speaking of the Chiefs, they had almost as many rushing yards as they did passing yards in the Super Bowl, so clearly running the ball is still a catalyst for passing success, regardless of how big the name or salary is of the guy getting the handoff.
How often have high priced RB's changed teams and went to one of the most talented rosters in football? Was getting CMC a failure for SF because they didn't go to the Super Bowl, given their circumstances, how could that move have been any more successful than it already was?
I am trying to set a precedent (and get home field advantage).
For me its as simple as first round pick = No. Second round pick (and filler) = Easy yes.
I want to annihilate 20 straight opponents next year.
I also want to make life easier on Tua by limiting the obvious pass rushing situations. We were an effective offense last year despite being predictable.
Flip the script. Do something no one else can ever consider doing.

I have watched and earned a lot of points in fantasy by having JT on the roster, He is a superstar, i don't think one can argue. Will we be better with him, ofc, will it put us over the top, who knows, it's a team sport. We won't be worse I'll tell you that much.
Too much, no way they offer 2 2nds unless we are getting a 3rd back this year or next.

Yep. I posted the same thing a few weeks ago. It would be super exciting to add a player like Taylor or Cook, but it’s completely unnecessary for winning a SB.
One spot actually since Miami should have 32 and colts will probably have 33.
