Colts give Jonathan Taylor permission to be Traded

The 2016 Patriots ran Blount for 18 touchdowns. Their second and their third leading receivers were James White and Martellus Bennett. Tom Brady was just trolling the league. Lol.

I don’t think fans generally point to “high priced RBs as the answer” it’s just that it IS one of our two weakest position groups and some generally elite players are getting connected with us…

Put differently, if someone offered you a Ferrari for 30k when you have a perfectly fine Nissan Altima… all the sudden, you LOVE Ferrari’s, don’t you?
But we're not getting a Ferrari for 30k.

Were in cap hell next year and you guys wanna pay for a Ferrari when clearly by the chart in this thread shows a Altima is what wins Super Bowls not Ferraris.

AND you wanna buy all the maintenence packages and extra dealership fees in the form of draft picks to get this "Ferrari"

Where are you getting that the Colts made up an injury for Taylor? If Taylor sits out all year he doesn’t get credit for this season. He has to be eligible to play at least 6 games for this season to count on his contract. He can play 6 and fake another injury, but that doesn’t help him get paid. He claims he is injured - whether he is or not is pure speculation. There is literally no reason the Colts would “make up” an injury for him. If he wasn’t claiming he is injured he would be on the practice field or getting fined as he is under contract.
If he sits out on his own, you are correct that he is not credited for a year in the NFL. Yet if he is placed on PUP or IR for the entire season, he would get credit for the entire season because of the contract the players signed with the owners.

A pretty good place to wonder:

He gets credit being on PUP I believe.

When they played stupid ball with his phantom back injury, that gave him and his ankle all the motivation to "still not be ready"

Irsay started strong. But it's how you finish that counts. He screwed this Taylor situation up like Justin Herbert in a 2nd half of a playoff game
He doesn’t get credit in the final year of his deal unless he’s available for 6 games. If he stays on PUP all year he still owes the Colts a year under contract. And of course they still have the ability to franchise him. Irsay didn’t do anything with his “phantom back injury”. There are two plausible scenarios 1) Taylor has actually been injured. If you believe that then the nature of the injury matters. 2) JT is faking his injury. If you believe that then the easiest injury to fake is a back I jury. In that case the Colts likely called his bluff by pointing out if his back is injured they can put him on NFI.

You guys are making **** up and for the life of me I can’t understand why you think the Colts would want or make up an injury for JT. If they keep him they want him to play. If they trade him they want max value in return. How the hell does making up an injury accomplish anything. JT is either injured or he’s faking an injury. The Colts have no reason to fake one for him.

Ok

It depends on the nature of the injury - which is why the accusation it’s a back injury would matter. If the ankle injury never healed then you are correct. Of course that’s harder to fake. If he has a back injury then that didn’t occur during team activities- it’s a non football injury. That would not count.

Correct!

Conveniently, Taylor's already on the PUP list

Is it a coincidence the teams who won those Super Bowls with a lower priced RB played better defense than the teams they beat. 🤦

This is just wrong.

From the NFL itself:

Accrued seasons: Used to determine a player's free agency status (unrestricted, restricted, exclusive rights). In order to accrue a season, a player must have been on (or should have been on*) full-play status for at least six regular-season games in a given season. A player under contract must report to his team's training camp on his mandatory reporting date in order to earn an accrued season. If player holds out his services for a "material period of time," he is also at risk of not accruing a season.

*When I write "or should have been on," note that this is the language used in the CBA. Basically, in order to accrue a season, the player needs to be on the team's active/inactive list, injured reserve or reserve PUP for at least six regular-season games in a given season.
