Here is the dolphin related part:

Our sources also told us the Miami Dolphins, at this point, are ruling out using a the first overall pick on a quarterback. Simply put, they are not yet convinced any quarterbacks are worthy of being picked first overall. Nonetheless, we've been told Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland really like Joe Flacco and Chad Henne, who could be selected later in the draft....all this talk has led our source to believe that Miami is looking at Chris Long vs Vernon Gholston, if they keep the number one pick. Gholston, who reminds many N.F.L. scouts of Shawn Merriman, could actually inch ahead of Long, if he has a great workout in Indy.

Will be interesting, although I believe D-Linemen don't workout until Monday. I'd also assume that both of them would participate in 3-4 LB drills as well. If in fact that Falcons trading up rumor via Kiper is true, Gholston could become a more realistic possibility (and while I like him more than Long in terms of NFL career), but all things considered, Long is still a better prospect right now.

Well they wont waste it on Ryan as he is not even throwing at the combine. Can you say Brady Quinn junior.

That part really boggles my mind. I remember Merriman his final year in college and he was light years ahead of Gholston as a football player. Are they simply comparing physical attributes?

Well I guess the difference is that

Merriman=Roids
Gholston=Pure strength.

all joking aside they are comparing their physical tools and relation in terms of a pass rushing DE converted into a 3-4 LB.

Please post respectfully in this thread. If you can't then move on to the next thread. If there are more personal attacks, then warnings or points will be given. Thanks.

I think we will get Chris Long unless we trade down then we will probly Take Vernon if we stay in the Top Ten

I just love these websites and their "sources". The Dolphins have just gotten together but already know before the combine and the pro-days...who they are and aren't going to select...give me a break.

Actually the dolphins being interested in Flacco goes back to the Senior Bowl where it was said that the dolphins were very impressed by him. The Dolphins being interested in Chris Long has been reported by different people in the media as well. So they aren't far off and draftdaddy.com is usually pretty good at posting actual news, not unsubstantiated rumors.

Thats not sources...thats general info that everyone thinks they know already...we have no idea who the Dolphins will really want...especially this early in the process.

Very interesting....

With the Fins having 2 2nd rounders, it is not completely out of the question that Miami would draft a QB in the 2nd. There will be talent there to be had.

I suggested that Dallas should draft a QB in the 2nd, this year, simply because of the quality of the depth at QB that would be available at not only a bargain pick, but also, a bargain price- of course, i got completely mauled by all the Cowboys fans who seem to think Romo is indestructable and is not at risk for injury.

The last thing any team that has lots of needs should do, is give a Russell type contract to a dude who might not be ready to play for 2-3 years. It makes no sense. Heck, it makes no sense for a GOOD team to do that either....

If a guy like Henne is sititng there in the 2nd round, where he can be signed to a reasonable contract, to learn for a few years, then that makes a lot more sense than taking a 100million dollar guy who is going to carry a clip board.

I am also high on Dennis Dixon, who I believe, is an elite QB that will slide to the 4th or 5th, due to having to rehab his knee. I mean, any QB, who is willing to play on a blown knee, to me, shows the kind of heart and leadership you want at the position.

Actually , If we trade down , then I want Ryan Clady or Otah as the targets.
They would be fine with me to but the only reason i would take Vernon is if JT is traded or something or yea i would go with Ryan Clady or Otah

The Flacco is real, it was reported that the dolphins were very impressed with him during the practices at the Senior Bowl, if you did enough searching you would find it, I believe one place was nfldraftcountdown.com and I think the nfl network mentioned it as well. Someone else also reported hearing that on other tread here I believe as well. As for Long, I believe people like Schefler and the foxsports guy also made note that we were interested in Long. I think one of the points of the article is that we aren't looking at QB #1 overall and they are speculating that Gholston could be the choice if he has a better combine than Long. Personally I've seen more of Gholston than Long and all I can say is the Gholston is jacked up.

It will be interesting to see how Flacco does in agility drills at the combine. He has the size at 6'6" 232, smarts and the arm strength so lets see how his athletic ability is now.
