Smart man!! It's happening already. I talk to college players and more than ever they want to come to Miami.
I've been getting autographs for a living for years before becoming a medic. Quincy Wilson CB from the Gators told me he wants to come play in Miami for Gase.
The players love him apparently. I just thought that was nice to hear that players are pumped to play in Miami again!!

Interestingly enough, and coming from an organization that knows how to build through the draft, Seattle GM John Schnieder said in his PC yesterday that in this day and age you have to draft for need.

This is a talented safety draft. Wonder if that could mean a safety in round 1 or round 2. If Miami is talking BPA it certainly could be a safety at #22. Admittedly, that would be a surprise to me with defensive end and linebacker such glaring needs.

That's an interesting statement. I have a love/hate relationship with it as well. Take a player like Kenny Stills. His career took off last year under Gase and he wants to stay in Miami. But, with the talent the Dolphins have at wide receiver and his contract potentially reaching $12 million per year the odds seems small. We can hate the player for leaving, but wouldn't we all do the same unless the "home town" discount is close.

Free agency means you lose players and that's hard. It's essentially a little bit like trades in baseball, but trading salaries rather than players. The $12 million that Stills might get could be allocated to a couple of defensive players or maybe a top guard.

Gase saying the team doesn't want to "be big spenders" is how I hope Miami navigates free agency. The Branch signing last year was the type of deal I hope the team continues to find --- a player who hadn't yet reached his potential at a modest salary. Find a couple of those every year and use the comp picks the way New England does to build through the draft.

Sounds like Carroo is headed for another red shirt season.

I understand why Gase wants to lock up Stills or add another #3. No way this defense gets magically turned around in one offseason. The offense is going to be relied upon heavily this season. Stills is a key component. People get up in arms hearing the annual numbers but it's all about the guaranteed as usual. The jury still has two years on Parker. Take care of Landry at some point in the next year. Still plenty of money left for a LB and a G.
