Commentary: 11 Things I Think I Think About the Dolphins

Good read but I have one question. Why do you think the coaching staff would like Travares Tillman to win the strong safety job?

Great read as always, Phil. I thought the remarks about Whitlock were right on. It pains me to read some of the crap he puts out there.

Good article, I disagree about the tickets thing but that will all come to pass once we win a few.

Great piece. I disagree only slightly with the Williams take. I don't think he has any trade value hence keeping him makes the most sense. At worst, he flops and it costs them little having Ronnie Brown and at best you have the number one tandem at RB in the NFL. My favorite quote:

"I have worse memories of Reggie Howard than any Dolphin since James McKnight was dropping passes like the ball was coated with hot motor oil."

:sidelol:

Classic. Conjures up large therapy bills and recurrent nightmares of number 80 but classic nonetheless.

It sounds like because he has more athletic ability than the others. He just hasn't put it all together yet. And he's right, if Nick is unable to get that out of him then its probably not comin out at all.

Excellent article. Phil, you are very good writer. I enjoyed it...nice read!

I'm looking forward to a very exciting season.

Goooooooooo Phinsssssssssssss!!!!

Thanks for the love, all! I'd say it's great to be back, but...uh, I never left. Just been busy as hell with other stuff, like my work on Dr. Stats. And I'm also trying to get a couple articles together for the opening of CanesHeaven.com.

Now that my obligation to pimp has been satisfied, let's answer some questions from the thread. :)

I think that Tillman is probably the most talented safety the Phins have, apart from (obviously) Jason Allen. He's a case of a million dollar talent with a ten cent head. If the coaches could get him straightened out, he could be very good. Because of his speed, quickness and strength, he's got more upside than Renaldo Hill, Deke Cooper or Yeremiah Bell. And if he won the starting job, it would likely be a sign that he's finally fulfilling that vast potential he has. That's why I think they'd love to see him show enough to win the job...I just don't think it's going to happen.

Well, given that he isn't shredding the CFL, I suppose his trade value isn't where we hoped it might be. But I've always felt the Phins were just showcasing him in 2005 to move him later, and a year in the CFL wouldn't change that plan, though obviously, an injury to Ronnie Brown would.

Personally, I think the Broncos were close to a deal for Williams in the first place, but got wind of the drug suspension and leaked the story. It's small coincidence that the story originated in Denver. (BTW, to give credit where credit's due, this was CK's theory, and I liked it so much I'm adopting it for my own.)

Thank you. I worked hard on that simile. I went through a few different comparisons before settling on "hot motor oil". :)

Hold up. Ten Cent head? He posted 57 Total Tacles (37 Solo), 3 Interceptions, and 2 Pass Deflections. I'll agree with million dollar talent, but considering he was supposed to be a Free Safetey before being put in at Strong Safety after Tebucky Jones went down, he has more than a ten cent head.
