Commentary: 2005 NFL Predictions

Overall good read. However, New England won last year with Randall Gay and some other no name as their corners, so less talent at DB doesn't necessarily translate to worse defense. Everywhere else on our defense has noticeably improved. We have a deeper D-Line, stronger LBs, and better safety depth than last year. I would take any of our safeties that figure into the equation this year over Sammy Knight!

But other than that I think you were deadon with your predictions!

Cant believe im saying this, but this might be the year the power shifts away from the AFCE.

I see the AFCWest and AFCNorth as the stronger divisions this year. Both those divisions can go 3 teams deep with 9-7 records and better.

NFC however no one should touch the Eagles. Its a 3 team race between Minny, Carolina, and Philly.

I actually think it's pretty much on target. The toughest division to predict right now is probably the AFC West. Is San Diego for real, does KC have enough on defense, can Oakland win 40-37 every week and how good is Denver? That division can go a number of ways, but the Chiefs definitely could take it. Jacksonville over Pittsburgh could happen and Cincy is a team on the move, but the Steelers probably still take that division.

Miami at 5-11 is probably pretty close. I've been saying 7-9, but admittedly that would be tough in the AFC East, with the remainder of the schedule, and so many changes. The qb and offensive line have been very spotted and disappointing in the preseason, for whatever that's worth.

Fiedler is not better than AJ or Gus. Not even close.

Fiedler had a better O-Line he had an actual running game and still couldn't take us deep into the playoffs. Without a running game last year he showed he was worse then AJ.

That point about fiedler being better ruined the whole article in my opinion.

I love how on a Dolphins message board even, it's so suddenly en vogue to pick the Dolphins to finish last in their division. Very Very sad.

Im sorry that we are not all blatant homers and some of us are more objective. I will try to be more homer-ish this year.

12-4 HERE WE COME!

It's called reality! What have they done to make you believe otherwise?

I only have one thing to say.....Carolina better not win the SB.

while i agree that PIttsburgh and Indy could slip a little... some of his other assessments are rather ... silly...

- Volek is not better than McNair... Healthier, but not better...
- Pennington is not the weak link of the Jets...
- Denver is not last in the AFC West...
- Saying Orton has "no help" in Chicago is knowledge deficient... Kruetz? Benson? Muhammed? Tait? Ogunleye? Urlacher? Harris? Tillman? Brown? i see the bears as being competitive and fiesty this year...
- Fiedler being better than Gus and AJ is not a fact... It's debatable, but not fact...

I disagree, Pennington is a very good Qb, and with his shoulder rehabbed, and with a very good offensive coordinator, he's not gonna hold them back. I agree with the predictions on the Afc East and North. Steve McNair is a better player than Volek, when he's healthy, which is rare. The biggest dissapointment in the league, IMO, will be the Chiefs, they brought in some better defensive players, but i'd be more surprised if they won the division, than if they finished in last. If Detroit's offensive line can block anybody, i've been extremely impressed with Harrington this preseason, with the weapons he has, they could be a very good team.
