Commentary: Canes-Noles Stinker

i almost feel i should apologize to the country for my team participating in a nationally televised game like this. no one deserved to watch this horrific performance

Good article - insightful, good analysis. Nice job.

But to the guy with the "fire Larry Coker sig: it's not Coker who needs to go. It's Dan Werner, the OC. What kind of play-calling is that from an experienced coach, when he throws his brand-new rookie QB to the lions by calling plays that have him throwing into the teeth of an experienced, talented linebacker corps - when he had an untested, and as we saw later, inadequate FSU secondary available for abuse at his discretion?

Sure, Coker hired Werner. But the OC should answer for his crappy playcalling too.

It sounded to me like another 'Cane fan who suddenly can't accept that they actually lost to FSU. You all knew this day was coming, so don't be suprised. Every 'Nole fan in the country has been listening to your $hit talk for over 5 years now. He is sitting there complaning about conservative play-calling(WTF), it's the same way you won last year, but nobody was complaining. And you guys just kill me by saying "We should have won that game, we completely outplayed them". Guess what, we outplayed you 4 out of the last 6 losses, so welcome to our world. After we get our QB situation settled down(Xavier Lee will be the starter), we will now own ya'll for 4 years. And where was Devin Hester, HELL, we kicked it to him in the beginning and all he could do was fumble. But I just find it IRONIC that FSU won the ball game on SPECIAL TEAMS, once again, now you know how it feels.

um i haven't liked coker for 2 years and i opened up firecoker.com last year. this FSU game is just another reason to fire him. btw, xavier lee was BEAT OUT by weatherford for the starting QB job. are you really sure you want either one of those guys behind center? nah, didn't think so

You kind of missed the point, didn't you?

Both teams played like crap. Florida State completed 8 passes all night, 5 of which were screens. Miami made so many stupid, horrible mistakes all throughout the game. Miami's mistakes were simply more costly.

I never said that Miami played better or deserved to win, because they didn't. But Florida State didn't exactly play better.

And yes, I do have a problem with such conservative play-calling when you've scored 7 points all game. You've got a QB who's just finally getting comfortable, you've marched 95 yards downfield, and you have a 3rd and goal from the 8 against that quick of a front 7 with the top corner out and you're throwing a quick out? I do have a problem with that. I have a problem with throwing early in the game when it was obvious that Moss could carve whatever throw he wanted. I have a problem with throwing over the middle where guys like Sims and Hall can knock the ball down as opposed to throwing out to Ross, whom Miami attacked twice deep and was successful both times. I don't care if we won in the past using conservative play-calling; past games don't matter with a new QB. They made all the right calls last night, just at the wrong times.

i don't know how any FSU fan can be happy after that game. great, you beat miami, but you got about 3-4 more losses coming for ya this year. weatherford looked absolutely miserable, and i doubt xavier the savior will help too much (who beat him out in camp?)

It's obvious you don't know what in the world you are talking about. Drew Weatherford was gave the starting nod because Xavier Lee was injured. Drew was able to get more snaps late in the preseason, so Coach Bowden felt he should get the starting nod. It had nothing to do with him outplaying Xavier Lee.
So realize what you are trying to explain before you type it.:D

From a completely unbiased ponit of view. (i'm a Gator fan and hate both teams equally). That was a very ugly game. For you Noles fans that are just trying to make it sound like the Canes fans are making excuses, get over it. It was a very poorly played game and neither team looked like a Top 10 team last night. Not to say they won't be at some point in the season but last night, no.
