FYI...another disgusting move for those that missed this from the CHIK-FIL-A Peach Bowl.

It will just be known as the Chik-fil-a Bowl next year. What tradition! :shakeno:

64 or 32 team football playoff?????

Are you on crack???

That would take over a month!!

Not to mention, in football there are only about 130 D-1 teams. In basketball, there are over 350. So in basketball, making the tournament is actually a challenge. You want half the teams to make the tournament?? What's the point of the regular season then?

Come on!

An 8-team playoff might be plausible (With just the BCS teams). Any more than that would be excessive, expensive, and would lose interest of casual college football fans.

Hate to tell you, but 56 teams make the "playoffs" as it is. 32 would be a huge reduction. It would be the same as removing 12 bowls.

.

Not to mention in basketball fans can travel to one venue and you can watch your team play 2 games in one weekend. Fans can't be expected to spend money and travel week after week after week for over a month straight to follow a team to watch 1 game a weekend. You will be playing these games in empty stadiums eventually.

Not to mention letting that many teams in will kill the regular season. Teams won't play any teams out of conference. They will play cup-cake city, pad their win total. Make sure they get 8 or 9 wins no matter what just to guarntee a spot in the tourney.

It's a terrible idea on all levels. The system in place isn't great but its the best! Tweak it here and there......but keep the current system in place.

A 32 team tournament would mean 6 extra games for winning team. the tournament would get over just before the draft and with all the extra games comes extra injures. the current system has the two best teams in college football playing for the championship, that doesnt sound like that bad of a system to me.

While I don't personally have a problem with the BCS (probably because it has never screwed my team, lol) I do agree that there are questionable game every year, or most years. This year the BCS got it right, with the title game anyway (which my Longhorns BETTER win :) ), but it woulda been hard NOT to get it right, there are only 2 undefeated teams. If there were 3 undefeateds or only one and a bunch of 1-loss teams I bet there would be some convtroversy. I like the 8 team playoff a lot actually. It seems like the only reasonable playoff system. While ideally there would be more, that would be too many extra games. With an 8 team playoff (top 8 in the BCS standings) it would end a LOT of the questions that always arise, like "oh, the #7 team is better than the #2 team" blah blah blah. Plus, an 8 team playoff would be only 3 rounds, INCLUDING the title game, so it'd really only be 2 extra games for a team should they make the title game, since technically they'd be playing a bowl game either way, which would be the 15th game instead of 13th in this case. Again, I don't personally hae a problem with the BCS, and prolly won't til they screw over the my Longhorns, but I do like the top 8 BCS teams having a playoff. Especially because a lot of times a 1 loss team is better than an undefeated team, or a 1-loss team ranked higher, so the playoff would elimate a lot of the "what-ifs?".

I agree

Except I think the best scenario is a 4 team playoff

#1 plays #4

#2 plays #3

Then the winners play

I dont see this as highly unreasonable

Problem is instead of fighting over who is #1 and #2 you start fighting over who is the #4 seed.

Then you have to decide over how you split up the money. If the Top 4 teams are USC, Texas, Penn St, and ND (just an example). How is the money going to be split? The SEC, Big East, ACC (just to name three) are gonna want a share of that money even though they don't have a team in the FINAL 4. And you have to give every conference a cut, cause then the one year a couple conferences are left out, they will get pissed, go create something else and just tell the system to F' OFF

The SYSTEM IN PLACE WORKS! All you need to do is have that Plus-1 game. So when in years you have LSU and USC both undefeated after bowl games, you just schedule a game for 3 or 4 weeks down the road and thats it. Be done with it.
