Commentary: Five 'hidden' keys to the Dolphins' success

I would add that Miami should not underestimate or look past games vs the Bills and/or Jets

Good point .... it would be easy for players to look past some of those games and into the following weeks... we all know it's any given sunday in the NFL and we don't want to lose in any (well at least not too many) of those "trap" games..... although I am confident Saban won't let that happen!

I know the "any given Sunday" mantra, but let's face it: the Jets are a mess. And they will continue to be a mess through 2006. The Bills actually have a chance to make some noise, and I'm sure (as other readers have said) that Saban will make sure the team focuses on one game at a time (see The step approach).

Good high level overview of certain keys to success. I like the allusion to the weather. A stormy early fall can bring disruption of course. Warm, humid weather especially in September and October gives us a good advantage.

As we all know while the rest of the country is cooling off S. Florida (and much of the rest of the SE up till late Oct early Nov) is still warm and humid and any team from the colder climes will have to adjust quickly on the field or they have the potenial of wearing down in the 4th quarter at Dolphins Stadium. Among are first three home games clear and very warm days especially against the Bills and Packers will certainly help to a good start at least in the first home games.

I think we really need to get a good jump after Pitt. I mean if we lose that one, just in case, not the end of the world by any means. Then we go after the Bills and then we have the three straight road games. If we take two out of those three (lets say take it to the Texans and Jets and lose competitively to the Pats) then we will be in good shape. In fact, when looking at the first seven games before the bye we have a good shot at 5-2. And, at 5-2 we are sitting very well all things considered.

Also, I like the article poiting out to the building process that Saban excels at. Saban understands their is a process to building a team. This has been covered by several posts from you all over the past months. But, the point is that his process works and when the Dolphins get to the next level in hindsight we will look back and point out Saban's philosophy as keys to the success.
