Commentary: Observations from the Hall of Fame Game

nice read perry... and i agree with you about the patches - the marlins had it right - on the sleeve looks 100 times better... go stewies

Perry interesting read. I found myself feeling the same way at times. Of course we all wanted to see AJ come out and throw 50 yard strikes downfield to Chambers for TD'S and Ricky break 15-20 jaunts like he hasn't missed a beat, but last night was reality.

I agree the offensive line still needs work, with that said, AJ also needs to get rid of the ball faster and preferably not into the buttocks of a fat man either. You viewed this game as it should be viewed New Coaching Staff, New System, The return of Wiggy Williams and a mix of new players.

And when you consider this team has been using the new schemes on both sides of the offense vs a team who is in its second year, we did a pretty good job but are we surprised there is still work to do? Great point about the lofty expectations also.

Nice read. Id equate it to #40's performance.

Perhaps you left him out because ... well ... I don't know WHY you left him out, but one of the most significant notes has to be that David Boston appears healthy and in a position to contribute.

Why? Because they're my observations, Doc!

There were a few other things I was thinking of putting in, but I didn't want to go overboard and have an article the size of Ricky's beard.

Good read..

We did fine for first game with the new system, coaches and players. We lost because of players that are trying out for the team and will be cut. People read into the loss too much.. it isn't all black and white.

Who gives a rip about the patches. I didnt know this was a fashion and design forum for Dolphins attire. Also I thought it was pretty irrelevant to the whole article, and random... I dont how you thought that the patches were more important to put in the article other than, oh lets say for instance.. David Boston as Doc said, or Wright, or the secondary, or Carey, Chambers, Booker, Gordon, ZT, JT, the refs, the trainers, the waterboys.... pretty much anything other than those patches.

Those 40 patches don't bother me all that much. However, I see they bother someone a LOT.

I was at the game and the two major things I noticed about the game was the fact that Boston looks healthy and the fact that Matt Roth appears like he'll be a major contributor on defense this season.

Apparently I do, because I observed them. But thanks for the feedback. I'd seriously much rather have people tell me what's wrong than not say anything at all. :)

And I did mention Wright...at least I thought I did.

Also, tell us your observations on the stuff I didn't bring up. That's what this article and thread were for. I personally didn't see anything remarkable with Chambers, Booker, et al to talk about. Some stuff I left out on purpose for sake of space, because I have a bad habit of rambling. I was trying to avoid that.

But I'll make it short here. Schulters needs to learn the D still, which is fine. The rest of the secondary pretty much stunk.

Gilmore, Maurice Mann, and some other fringe receivers played well, especially Gilmore.

This is also preseason for the refs. They also have to learn to call the horse-collar penalty correctly.

I mentioned Carey indirectly in saying that Houck still has work to do, because I thought the o-line as a unit was pretty mediocre.
