I am assuming you're the one who wrote this:

"The halfback situation improved once the golden boy, #2 overall draft pick broke his hand"

I had to stop reading after this completely ignorant and inaccurate statement. You're mad, we get it. We all are, but it's not Ronnie's fault Saban drafted him. Saban did a lot of things wrong, but Ronnie definitely wasn't one of them.

100% agreed. Only thing better would be to tape it to the front of Saban's future Alabama office door.

Completely inaccurate? In the four games before Ronnie got hurt, he was averaging 77.5 yards/game. In the four games Morris started, he averaged 83 yards per game. To me, that shows improvement. Small improvement, maybe, but hypothetically, that's 6 3rd and 1s picked up.

Furthermore, Brown averaged 77.3 yards/game for the year. So Morris' average for the year in games he started was higher than Brown's, and it would have been much higher if Ronnie had not reeled off two nice games when he came back from the injury.

I think that Ronnie Brown will be a good football player. But history shows that RBs don't need to be top 5 picks to be good. We had other needs that could have been filled. But we have Brown, he's going to be fine, yet in this particular season, it is the truth that a career backup (seems to be a theme down here) outperformed our highest draft pick in a long, long time.

You're stats are correct, but your reasons are inaccurate.

1) The reason Morris's average is higher than Brown's overall average is because by the time Morris ahd come in, our offensive line had time to gel with Shelton at RG and was playing as well as they did from that point on.
2) You can't dismiss Ronnie's stats after his injury; in fact, those are the stats you should be looking at! Because that's when he and Morris were on the same playing field in terms of the offensive line play (as seen above). And clearly, Ronnie's numbers were excellent in those games.

So please, don't even try ot compare Ronnie and Sammy. Sammy couldn't hold Ronnie's jock; if Sammy were running at the beginning of the season, he would've gotten about 60 ypg.

Give it whatever reasons you want. Stats can be contorted any which way to prove a point. After all, in games that Brown went over 100 yards, his average yards/game was well over 100, which means he's a great RB. Point is, Morris had a higher average output than Brown. And that is a bit concerning, and it's something that falls on Saban's shoulders. This story is not debating how good or bad Brown is. It's pointing out the disappointment of the Saban Era.

Good read.

I guess my only issue with it is that I think 5 years is plenty enough time
to spend in a college coaching situation. There are alot more "move up"
opportunities in college, so, 5 years is fine, to me. I mean, what else did the
man have to accomplish at LSU? What more does he gain in career satisfaction if he gains another NC at the school, if he's not challenged by that?

I would be a Nick Saban fan forever if he'd've stuck around for 5 years,
gotten us a SB title and, either quit or moved on.

I didnt agree with the article 100%....too many people think that just because these guys ar coaches and players that they arent subject to the same standards as "regular" people. In "the real world" people change jobs when they get better offers. Why should these guys be any different?....I also agree that the running game got better when Ronnie went down. I mean ronnie rushed for a 1,000 yards and I may be forgetting but did Morris rush for a hundred yards in a game? The o-line did improve this year. It was like night and day the first 5 games and the last 11.

You talk about how Alabama is a "win now" mentality. You cant tell me the fans here didnt have that same mentality especially after last season. He did try to ugrade the QB position trading for Daunte. We have to see if that pays off so to say the QB situation isnt better, is not fair.

"Your inability to throw a red flag"...

Ill give ya the defensive backfield. It's a mess.

For a guy who was supposed to be such a control freak, you lost control of the ship. Your assistants in the front office couldn’t stand your inability to make a decision. Those on the field resented being treated like mere employees to the big boss. The players hated being treated like children, even if you didn’t chide them in the papers. Then again, that is probably because you refused to say anything in the papers other than 50-word statements with no meaning. One thing you did perfect: how to make reporters just trying to do their job feel bad about their career choice. They are probably celebrating Gatsby’s in Davie tonight, perhaps popping a bottle of champagne themselves.
DO you have player quotes or something for this because I dont remember hearing anything about it. Granted, I could have missed it so If ya do have quotes Id really like to read em.

South Florida is not known for its rabid fans, but the Dolphins are the one team whose support never wanes.

Dolphin stadium was pretty empty a few games this year
