COMMENTARY: SPOILED ROTTEN (or…How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Saban)

Spoiled Rotten Part 1

Saban is neither hero or villain- he's just a good coach. South Florida fans have a reputation for being fickle and impatient: this subject has been debated down here for as long as I can remember. One theory: South Florida has nightlife, a warm climate in the winter, the beach, and a multitude of other activities to keep people busy in the absence of sports. Pittsburgh, Detroit, et al- maybe a little bit different. Therefore, as a group we are less invested in the success or failure of our teams. Some of us are obviously more rabid fans than others, but nonetheless that's how the theory goes.

I'm hoping for more "meat" in Part 2: South Florida fans are fickle and impatient, Saban is neither hero nor villain, okaaaayyy........?

Nice. Very well written article. Can't wait for part 2!

I started to read the article but I stopped after like page 10. anyway the basis of the article shows how dominant of a team we can be. Heck if we keep this team and as well as we are doing. We could switch places with the Pats and win the SB 3 out of 4 years. The only thing left to work on is wait for the players to play as a team and we will be unstopable for the next 6-7 years with Daunte behind O-line and well... our defence behind our D-line. The defence seems to be playing as a team.

Look I will never rip anyone for writing for the site and whatnot.

I just don't understand the point of the column. And how the hell are we spolied? Most people only wanted the "playoffs" this year out of this team. not a super bowl victory!! Coming off a 9-7 season where they won their last 6.........THAT ISN'T ASKING FOR TOO MUCH!!! Make the playoffs (or at least put up a fight)

Saban failed and its not even Thanksgiving yet. That doesn't make the fans spoiled. It means the coaching staff didn't do their job this year and failed

It's one page. Average-sized article.

One thing to note: This article was originally written weeks ago, but could not be published due to some technical issues we're dealing with.

I thought I read the wrong article when he got to page ten... what article did he read??

Part one- Despite not winning another Superbowl we made it to two more as conference champions, we also made it to two more conference championship games which placed us one game away from the big game and into the final four.
We had much to be spoiled over despite not winning another Superbowl as the winningest team in league history since the merger.
It was only in the Wannstedt era that this team disgusted me.

After reading all three parts, this was a poor article I'm afraid. It reminded me of many posts by young impatient fans on this board that rush to judgement long before the hand is played out.

Any qualified knowledgable expert will tell you that you can't fully judge the quality of a draft 6 months later, or even 1 year and 6 months later, it takes a minimum of 3 and often four years to accurately evaluate a drafts success or failure, so your comments are in many cases way pre-mature.

Spoiled? This is a cop out. Its like those who say, "Fire Saban because we haven't won a SB in year 2"......

Winning the SB is not, and should not be the standard for Miami Dolphins. They don't deserve that status.

I don't think I am spoiled not to be overly thrilled with starting out 3-7 last year or 1-6 this year. We needed to be better prepared earlier in the season. Thats where the criticism of the coaching staff comes in.

If we were 6-4 right now, Miami fans would be beside themselves with enthusiasm. I would be making plans to leave my nice new house in Tampa to go down to the Jax game and raise hell. But as it is, this team has shown early in the season they are a joke. They can't win games they are supposed to win...They can't win home games. They can't win games against weak division opponents.

Every team worth their weight in salt does these things..but not Saban's Fins. So we aren't spoiled. We are just sick of being mediocre. Thats all we were under Shula for the most of the last 5-6 years he was there, thats all we EVER were under JJ, and we were mediocre and less under DW. We have been less than mediocre under Saban. Every team but Cleveland in the AFC has been to an AFC Championship since the last time we were there.

We are a sinking franchise. Look at how the fans are clinging to the irrelevant things like the 72 season and Marino's records. If we were competing for divisions and playoff spots and maybe a SB every now and then, no one would care about that crap. I don't care for it as it is. I am sick of it.

I can tell in one season if a coach is serious about rebuilding this team. And this year's team is going to be better than next years team. Next year, the defense has to be rebuilt because it has been filled with older players at the end of their careers. Saban did not rebuild, he retooled. And thats too bad.

The joke is your claim to be a Fin fan, you strike me as a Buc fan with big brother envy syndrome.
