Nice read. I am not worried about TO'd antics, in fact, I think the media would hate us more as we kick the crap out of teams.

But there is something that is left out of those stats on the inaccuracy of Gus, and that is alot of those balls were thrown away on purpose, which is exactly what Saban/Linehan wanted in the early stages of developement. As the season wore on, you could see the marked improvement in CC and booker and Gus. Which means we were buying time in order to figure everything out. Gus' numbers wont be as bad this year and if TO is around, you wont see many dropped balls or fumbles on the ten yard line (mcmicheal and Ronnie Brown). This is a team game, and bashing Gus all day cant make up for everyone else's mistakes. TO will bring fire to CC and Mcmike if anything. If you are great, then prove it! Because what I saw alot of was the entire team making mistakes, not just Gus Frerrotte. TO doesnt make mistakes on the field, he makes them off the field.

Thanks. As I noted in the article, I don't think Frerotte was bad at throwing those intermediate routes, and that his game would be improved by Owens's presence. It's just that "not bad" is a far cry from "really good". And when you're throwing deep less, the defense can play a little closer to the line, and those intermediate passes need to be more accurate. Even if you account for throw-aways and drops, Frerotte's completion percentage was still pretty poor. Would he be good enough for this team to make a deep playoff run with Owens around? I don't think so, but that's a discussion for another time.

Nice article Phil. I think it could be quite telling if Nick signs T.O. It would say imo he feels Miami is close to contending for a championship.Otherwise I can see no advantage(age) of signing a "problem player" like Owens.Btw lay-off us Hippies:wink:.

I say bring in TO! Draft a QB and a LT! Sign free agents on D!

I think you are absolutly right about it not making any real differance what the players say about not wanting TO. They felt the same way about Ricky untill Saban told them that he could help the team win and as such would be brought back. If Saban decides it makes sense to go after TO the rest of the team will just have to live with it.

nice read. i don't really care that owens tore apart two teams on a huge decline, miami is just getting better. san fran had huge cap problems and everything was falling apart. the eagles' window slammed shut with all of their injuries this past year, and the defense playing extremely poorly. i doubt owens had much to do with either one.

Phil, another GREAT article. You are a great writer, as am I. (which I still don't understand why Finheaven hasn't assigned me as a writer yet.)

Anyway, I agree that I would love to see T.O. brought in on an incintive based contract.

However, I think that the passing game woes that were illustrated in the snippet by ESPN in your article are more on the onus of our QBs than our wide receivers. I strongly feel that if we (I know it's a dream at this point in time) brought in a David Carr or Brett Favre our passing game would improve 200 percent.

I'm not a Gus hater at all. I feel he did a great job toward the end of last year. I just think this team has been so starved for a great QB since Dan retired that I am almost willing to do anything to get one who can lead us to the Promised Land.

T.O. would be great, especially if Saban can place a muzzle on him, but a franchise QB would be exactly what this team needs.

DD28.

I'm sorry, but I just don't want T.O. I can't stand the way he behaves, both he and chad johson. I want a player who can be a star but also a class act like playes on the patriots. Also, I don't think he will ever be able to change his attitude. He's always been like that, and he won't change now. The man thinks he's tuff stuff and his ****y attitude will ruin him.
