Commentary: Where do Ronnie and Ricky Stack Up?

Great article.

It's also worth noting that the first three on the list played when the league still used a 14-game schedule.

Also.....and this one relates to us I think.

In '88, Woods had 15 rushing TDs and Brooks logged 8. But Brooks also chipped in 6 receiving TDs to boot. That's 29 total TDs between them.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that we could see Ronnie Brown logging a good bunch of TDs receiving. But those Bengals had a very capable Boomer Esiason throwing the ball. I don't think we have anyone near that caliber on our roster.

Michael Vick 902yds!!! Is that right? Jeez!! thats serious numbers for a RB let alone a QB!. never realised he ran for that much yardage.

Chiefs, Raiders, Bills, Steelers, Dolphins, Giants. They all had one thing in common regarding Running yardage. An Offensive Line. Do we have one? Im sure we dont at this juncture. We have alot of catch up to do to get a dominant OL. It cant help to have 2 RB's who can deliver but without 5 guys who can't run block it means nothing.

As long as they're decent, we'll pick up yardage. Remember, Ricky racked up 1,853 behind an average at best, Tony Wise-coached unit in '02.

The RB generally makes the OL.

Agree unless u r the Denver Broncos. I still think Ricky would have had below 1000yds had he played behind our OL last season.

The "72" Dolphins had three backs and ran for a combined 2638 yards.
Ronnie, Ricky and K.J could EASILY destroy that number. I hope we don't have to run because we can't throw though !!;)

The line won't be the only position improved by our RB tandem. AJ will have a lot less pressure on hiself to go out and try to win the game alone.

Another great article Phil. I just don't get the negativity of some fans regarding RW. No one liked what he did, but heck he is trying to atone. Instead of worrying about what if he screws up, what if he is as productive?
I like our talent in the backfield.

I'm just glad I kept my Ricky jersey's. We need to make peace with this and let Saban lead.

Your article is good. but you forgot about Gordon. The guy will get his playing time and yards too. It wouldn't surprise me to see him finish second in yards per game...

I'm really excited to have Ricky back. I still have my jersey (I just don't throw those away). I think we could have a beastly backfield this year.

Just think, we won't have to worry about a guy wearing out down the stretch. Once Brown hits that rookie wall (he'll hit it regardless of how much or how little he's used), we'll have Ricky (and likely Gordon) to bother defenses.
