He has the talent.
But he'll need to show the desire/commitment.

I think he'll do that (with Saban's & other vets riding him, and his continuing maturity (he's still very young)).

I personally think it'll be he and Traylor rotating a lot in 2006, with Manny becoming full-time starter in 2007.

He needs to show a commitement to being an NFL player 365 days a year, meaning, keeping his body in the best physical shape so that he can work at playing at the right weight, instead of yo-yo'ing up and down every Mini/Training camp. If he can get that in check, I think the sky is the limit and he can be a pretty dominant player.

I actually hope this is true. I know there has been a lot of Manny bashing going on, but I think he will be a great player. he is very young and has much maturing left to do. But I believe he is heading in the right direction. I see him and Keith sharing duties there this year so that both of them stay fresh. Next year Traylor will retire and one of this year's rookies will be developed to back up Manny in 2007. That's what you call building solid depth and being ready for the future.

We also will have the 2007 NFL Draft and Free Agency to shore up the DL further with youth/talent.

Well I hope he's a full time starter by 2007. It'd be hard to trade him as a RFA for something good if he hadn't started yet.

But I find zero reason to assume that he'll learn some lesson sometime soon about staying in shape in the off season. He had a damn fine opportunity to learn that after last year...when he got drafted all the way down in the 5th because of his conditioning where he'd been projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, got called out in public by Kevin Carter, was called a baby by veterans, had Nick Saban making him cry in front of tv cameras, and basically had to sit out most of the whole season because of his conditioning.

How many rookies find out what its really like in the NFL in their rookie season and so they spend their first off season trying hard to get into BETTER shape than they were as a rookie? Wade Smith did. Vernon Carey did. Ronnie Brown did. Channing Crowder and Matt Roth appear to have. It's a very normal thing for rookies with good work ethics to spend their first off season correcting their body's conditioning to make it viable for an NFL season.

Instead of using last year as a lesson learned, he just went back to LA and said sweet the season is over now I can eat whatever I want to eat.

Manny wright has a paula abdul song stuck in his head... "Two steps forward, two steps back..."

And unless Manny gets his head on straight, as soon as possible he will be traded..and that's exactly as it should be. I predict as soon as one of the other 3 DT's Saban has brought develope...i.e., R. Wright and Vickerson shows improvement this year..Manny will become expendable...and it's a shame because the young man seems to have so much upside, but his bad habits will cost him millions over his life time in the NFL.

It doesn't matter so much if a big guy like Wright is a little overweight in May, as long as he is at playing weight by the start of training camp this is much ado about nothing.

i think manny will play around 60% this yr with traylor getting 40%...this guy will be a stud

This isn't about playing weight, this is about body fat percentage and conditioning. His conditioning was poor last year, and is still poor. He did not do his job, plain and simple.

The only way that happens is if Traylor's knee isn't responding to treatment and he's not up to part. If Traylor is healthy, he's the starter.

Would like to see Manny get to play more. He just needs to keep the weight down. If he can stay in the 330s then we are golden.

Forget about the resent weight issues. Second-year defensive lineman Manuel Wright is primed and ready to take over the starting duties at nose tackle for the Miami Dolphins .

Less than a year after the highly-publicized crying tantrum that brought him instant NFL infamy, Wright has been given the green light to settle into a spot in the middle of the Dolphins' defensive front. Nick Saban and company have recently alluded to the fact that he will continue to get extended reps at nose tackle while current starter Keith Traylor rehabilitates from minor knee surgery. Last season, Wright held his own while replacing Traylor in the middle, collecting four tackles, a sack and a pass deflection in two games.
This past weekend, concerns regarding his weight surfaced when he tipped the scales at 343 pounds, a full 13 pounds above his intended playing weight of 330. The good news is that he has actually lost roughly 15 pounds since his weigh-in this past March. If this weight loss trend continues, Wright should be easily get down to his playing weight by the time the regular season kicks off in September.

This writer is a nitwit! How can somebody who balloons to nearly 30 pounds over his playing weight be considered "primed and ready" for anything except his next meal? Obviously, Manny needs some serious motivation before the word "ready" can be applied to his body -- and, well, "primed" is probably a really big stretch applied to his head! :D
